To develop Telecom leaders through excellence in education and research.

The Bharti School of Telecommunication Technology and Management was established in 2000,
through a very generous financial grant made to the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, New Delhi by
M/s Bharti Enterprises, one of the leading telecommunication companies in India. The Bharti School is
formed by an association of 3 departments of IIT Delhi i.e. Department of Electrical Engineering,
Department of Computer Science and Department of Mathematics.

1) M. Tech - Telecommunication Technology and Management (JTM)

The interdisciplinary M. Tech program “Telecommunication Technology and Management is open to
students having done B. Tech in(Electrical/Electronics and communication engineering or Computer
science engineering). The main objective of the program is to generate trained professionals in the
area of Telecommunication Technology, Networking, Embedded Systems and Wireless Communication.
2) MS (R)- Telecommunication Technology and Management (BSY)
The MS in Research is open to all students who have done B. Tech in (Electronics and Communication
Engineering or in Computer Science Engineering). The MS(R) varies from M. Tech in terms of courses
and project. An MS(R) student is required to complete 20 credits of Coursework and 40 credits of
Project. The main objective of this program is to encourage research and develop innovative solutions
to the problems in the area of Telecommunication Technology, Embedded Systems, Wireless
Communication and Software.

The selection criteria for both M. Tech (JTM)/MS(R) (BSY) program is to qualify (usually in the 99th
percentile) in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) exam conducted by the IITs every year
and appear for a rigorous selection interview. Each student admitted to the M.Tech or the MS(R)
program is supported by the School through generous monthly stipends, on-campus accommodation
and an annual contingency grant.

Students who have graduated in these programs are currently contributing to the growth of various
industries and R&D units involved in the areas of Telecommunications, Computer Networks,
Embedded Systems and Software Development.

Bharti School has a long lasting Industry-Institute Relationship. Some of the Industry Institute
partnership Programs are:-

1. Airtel IIT Delhi Center of Excellence in Telecommunications (AICET)

The Airtel IIT Delhi Center of Excellence in Telecommunications (AICET) was started as a integral part of
the Bharti School of Telecommunication Technology and Management in public-private-partnership
with M/s Airtel, a group company of M/s Bharti Enterprises with funding from Airtel (90%) and
Department of Telecommunications (10%).
The activities of the AICET complement those of the Bharti School with the defined mandate consisting
of internship programs (including Innovation Seeding, Entrepreneurship, Outreach programs). Since
2007, there have three batches of interns from all over India who have benefited from this Internship
Program. In 2009, this Internship Program was converted to a Global Internship Program.

Contract Research Program : (including Consultancy / Retainer ship Programs). Two Contract Research
projects are under development.

Distance Education : (including Continuing Education and Professional Education Programs). The AICET
is designing a comprehensive course delivery platform for delivering Distance Education modules in
class- room mode.

2. IU-ATC (India-UK Advanced Technology Centre)

The IU-ATC (India-UK Advanced Technology Centre) of excellence in next generation networks systems
and services is a virtual joint research initiative which will put in place a focused agenda to support
collaborative PhD, Post Doctorate projects and joint research programs, and technology transfer
between the UK and India.
