BUSINESS THINKING

You are a retail outlet manager. The company is involved in distribution of food products to various
outlets. A consignment is being dispatched form Coimbatore to Chennai by road and the vehicle met
with an accident near Salem and the driver calls you at midnight 2.00 am and informs you about the
same.  The goods  need to reach Chennai outlet by 8.00 am the next day morning. What will you do?
Remember you are the manager and you need to act

SOLUTION

I would respond to the situation in the following ways

Alternative 1

As soon as the driver informs be about the accident that has taken place , I would ask him that is he
ok? Or did he suffer from any serious injury.. Then I would ask him upto 1) what extent the lorry and
the goods has damaged ,and my response will be depended upon his answer

First I would ask driver that is he ok?

1. I would ask him to try to take lift

2. If possible I will ask him to go to nearest petrol bunk and ask lorry drivers arriving over there
to help him,
3. Or I would suggest him to go to nearest city SALEM so there will be better chances of getting
a vehicle
