Activity: Family Disaster Management Date: June 14, 2019

Narrative:

As per Republic Act No. 10121. An act strengthening the Philippine disaster risk
reduction and management system, providing for the national disaster risk reduction
and management framework and institutionalizing the national disaster risk reduction
and management plan, appropriating funds therefor and for other purposes.

The seminar has a theme of New Technique on conducting earthquake and fire
drill inside and outside child development center / early learning center. The seminar
was held at Teacher Conference Center, Batangas City on June 14, 2019 at 8:00 in the
morning.

The seminar was started by a prayer followed by singing the national anthem.
The seminar was divided into two set namely Drill procedures conducted by the City
Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) for the morning session while
fire safety seminar conducted by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) for the afternoon
session.

The seminar was informative especially to me as a Disaster Risk Reduction

Management (DRRM) Coordinator of the school. The facilitator discussed on the things
we must do and prepare when a disaster may happen. As per RA No. 10121, the
government aims to strengthen the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management System by providing a seminar that will enlighten the mind of the Filipino
citizen especially the teacher in early childhood center.

The representative from CDRRMO talked about the different disaster where
Philippine particularly Batangas City is prone like Floods, Landslides, Typhoon,
Tsunami, El Niño and La Niña.

On the afternoon session, the representative from the BFP tackled about the Fire
Safety Measures and Fire Drill Orientation. This seminar aims to acquire basic
knowledge on the nature and behavior of fire, be familiar with the proper response
procedure during fire emergencies and increase awareness on fire safety and be more
prepared in case of fire incident. The seminar was not new for me because I already
had this seminar last year on my SK Training.

There will no hands on activity on how to operate fire extinguisher.
