The Forest Ridge Condominium Association board of directors has decided not to open the community pool this year due to concerns over legal liability and the inability to ensure safety during the coronavirus pandemic. Extensive planning efforts were made to explore opening options, including proposed social distancing plans and sanitization procedures, but ultimately the board and attorneys agreed the health risks were too great. While disappointed by the decision, the board may reconsider opening the pool if circumstances change and will use the savings from closed pool expenses for other community maintenance needs.

We have some very disappointing news…We tried. We really tried.
We literally spent hours emailing and talking and meeting with pool experts, each other and speaking to attorneys. Our property manager, Chris Kohnle, sat though two webinars to see if opening the pool was possible.
We plotted. We planned. We even drew up a proposed social
distancing blueprint. We agonized over the sanitizing of the common areas.
But, in the end, because of the dire circumstances caused by the
coronavirus, the Board of Directors, our property manager, and our attorneys agreed that we COULD NOT provide the safe environment that met all the legal requirements and that we all deserve. And the liability that all of us would share should someone get sick or worse was just too great of a risk to take.
And so we will not be opening the pool as originally planned. Like
you, we are frustrated. We are sad and we are very disappointed. We have however reserved the right to reconsider our decision should circumstances change.
In the meantime, there will be some expenses to ensure the pool
is free from algae, etc. in the event we do decide to open it. The small savings in the pool expenses will be used for other maintenance items around the community. Thank you for your cooperation!
