High-level central teams
have been deployed in 15
states and UTs with more
than 50 districts or munic-
ipal bodies that are wit-
nessing a spurt in cases to
assist the local adminis-
trations in containment
and management of the
Covid-19 outbreak, the
Union health ministry said
on Tuesday.
These multi-discipli-
nary teams are helping
the states and UTs address
challenges like testing bot-
tlenecks, low tests per mil-
lion population, high con-
firmation rates, risk of
capacity shortfall over the
next two months, poten-
tial bed shortage, growing
case fatality rate, high dou-
bling rate and sudden spike
in active cases, etc, it said.
These states and UTs are

Amidst a steady rise in Coro-
na cases, state government
today issued a set of regula-
tions so as to ensure 70 per cent
attendance in government
offices as well as prevent
spreading of infection in work-
place.
Only asymptomatic
employees shall be allowed to
attend office on rotation basis.
Anyone with any sort of symp-
tom like mild fever, cough and
cold have been asked not to
attend office. Similarly, employ-
ees residing in containment
zones shall not come to office.
Employees residing in
containment zones,
too, shall not come to
office.
He/she will work from home
till the area is declared as a Clear
Area.
Attendance of officers and
staff who share a common sit-
ting place should not exceed
10 on rotation basis. The sit-
ting arrangements must be
made in such a way that the
distance between the two
desks should not be less than
two metres. In case it is not
possible to maintain such
distance with the presence of
10 persons in a common
area/enclosure, the number
of employees should be fur-
ther reduced.
In that case, the overall
attendance of 70 per cent as
stipulated in the order may be
reduced. Roster should be
prepared accordingly on week-
ly basis, read the regulations.
Officers above the rank of
Deputy Secretary in Secretariat
and equivalent rank in the
Directorates or other estab-
lishments who have sepa-
rate cubicals/sitting arrange-
ments, may be asked to attend
office on all working days
and as per normal working
hours.
Employment who will not
attend office because of ros-
ter arrangement as stated
above, shall be advised to
work from home through e-
office.
The Directorates/other
establishments where there
is no e-office facility as yet, have
been asked to urgently intro-
duce the system of e-office.
While in office premises,
wearing of face mask, fre-
quent hand washing and use
of hand sanitiser are manda-
tory. Sitting arrangements of
visitors shall also be made at
a distance of at least two
metres.

Delhi might see 5.5 lakh cases by July-end: Sisodia

Officials from the Centre say
there is no community trans-
mission of Covid-19 yet in
Delhi, deputy chief minister
Manish Sisodia asserted on
Tuesday, and estimated that
there might be 5.5 lakh coro-
navirus cases in the city by 31
July.

by July end, he told reporters
after a meeting of the Delhi
Disaster Management Author-
ity (DDMA).
The meeting was chaired
by Lt Governor Anil Baijal
who is also chairperson of the
DDMA.
Sisodia said if old growth
rate of Covid-19 is taken into
account, the doubling rate in
Delhi is 12.6 days and almost
all participants of the meet-
ing agreed to this.
According to authorities,
the recovery rate in the nation-
al capital till Monday was
37.92 per cent.
“Officials from the Centre
said at the meeting that there
is no community transmission
of Covid-19 virus yet in Delhi
and hence, there is no need
of discussion on it,” Sisodia
told the media after meeting.
The lieutenant governor has
refused to reconsider his deci-
sion to overrule the Delhi
government’s order reserving
state-run and private hospi-
tals for Delhiites, the deputy
chief minister said.
He said the national cap-
ital may record 44,000 Covid-
19 cases by 15 June and it would
need 6,600 beds in hospitals.
“By 30 June, there would
be one lakh cases of coron-
avirus in Delhi and we will need
15,000 beds... It is estimated
that Delhi will record 2.15
lakh cases by 15 July and
33,000 beds would be required.
There might be 5.5 lakh cases
by 31 July and Delhi would
need 80,000 beds,” Sisodia
said.
Based on the doubling
rate, 5.5 lakh cases are expect-
ed to be reported in Delhi by
31 July, he said.
He said people living in
Delhi also need beds during
Covid-19 pandemic and in
view of this, the Delhi Cabi-
net had recently taken the deci-
sion to reserve state-run and
private hospitals for Delhiites.
“The LG did not have any
idea on numbers of Covid-19
cases and beds in Delhi once
people from all over the coun-
try start coming to Delhi (for
treatment),” Sisodia said.
In the meeting, nobody had
an answer on availability of
sufficient numbers of beds if
Covid-19 cases continue to
increase in the coming days
in the national capital, he
also said.
“Who will take the respon-
sibility if there are no beds?
If people are coming from all
over the country, beds avail-
able in Delhi will be occupied
within three, four or ten days...
As the LG has refused to
reconsider his decision, we will
try to serve the people of
country and Delhi as well. We
will also try to expand med-
ical facilities,” he added.
The LG’s order has creat-
ed a “major problem” in the
national capital, he also added.
On Monday, the LG over-
ruled the AAP government’s
order to reserve Delhi gov-
ernment-run and private hos-
pitals in the national capital
for Delhiites.
