‫الجنود والجسر ‪ :‬كانت العربات المجرورة بالبغال تتمايل صاعدة الضفة المنحدرة من الجسر ‪ ،‬والجنود‬

‫يساعدون بدفعها من أشعة عجالتها ‪ ،‬كما كانت الشاحنات تصر صاعدة ومبتعدة{ ‪ ،‬وهي تدفع عن طريقها كل‬

‫الفالحين ‪ ،‬الذين كانوا يمشون بتثاقل على طول الطريق وأقدامهم تغوص حتى كواحلها في التراب ‪ ،‬لكن العجوز‬

‫جلس هناك بال أية حركة ‪ ،‬كان تعبًا جدًا إلى حد أنه لم يستطع السير إلى مسافة أبعد ‪.‬‬

‫المهمة ‪ :‬كانت مهمتي أن أعبر الجسر وأستطلع رأس الجسر من الجهة األخرى وأكتشف إلى أي حد تقدم العدو ‪،‬‬

‫قمت بهذا العمل وعدت فوق الجسر ‪ ،‬لم تكن هناك عربات كثيرة ‪ ،‬وكان هناك القليل جدًا من المشاة ‪ ،‬لكن‬

‫العجوز كان مازال هناك ‪.‬‬

‫سألته ‪ :‬من أين أتيت ؟‪.‬‬

‫أجاب ‪ :‬من سان كارلوس ‪.‬‬

‫وابستم ‪ ،‬كانت تلك بلدته فأثار ذكرها سروره فابتسم ‪ ،‬قال موض ًحا ‪ :‬كنت أعتني بالحيوانات ‪ ،‬قلت له دون أن‬

‫ونظارته الفوالذية االطارات ‪ ،‬ثم قلت ‪ :‬أية حيوانات كانت ؟‪.‬‬

‫قال ‪ :‬حيوانات مختلفة …وهز رأسه ‪ :‬كان يجب أن أتركها ‪.‬‬

 ‫كنت أراقب الجسر ‪ ،‬وأرض دلتا إيبرو الشبيهة بأرض إفريقية ‪ ،‬وأنا أتساءل ‪ :‬كم من الوقت سيمضى قبل أن‬

‫نرى األعداء ‪ ،‬فأصيخ السمع طيلة الوقت اللتقاط أول ضوضاء ‪ ،‬تشير إلى وقوع الحدث الغامض المسمى‬

‫التماس بينما كان العجوز ال يزال جالسًا هناك ‪.‬‬

‫سألته ‪ :‬أية حيوانات كانت ؟‪.‬‬

‫قال موض ًح ا ‪ :‬كان هناك ثالث حيوانات ‪ ،‬كانت ثمة عنزتان وقطة وكانت هناك أربعة أزواج حمام ‪.‬‬

‫سألت ‪ :‬وكنت مضط ًرا لبيعها ؟! قال ‪ :‬نعم ‪ ،‬بسبب المدفعية ‪ ،‬طلب مني النقيب أن أرحل بسبب المدفعية{ ‪ ،‬سألته‬

‫ال أستطيع أن أتصور ما سيحل بالحيوانات األخرى !! بال سياسة ‪ :‬سألته ‪ :‬ما هي سياستك ؟ قال ‪ :‬أنا بال‬

‫سياسية ‪ ،‬إنني في السادسة والسبعين ‪ ،‬لقد قطعت إثني عشر كيلو مت ًرا وأظن بأنني لن أستطيع أن أسير إلى‬

‫مسافة أبعد ‪ ،‬قلت ‪ :‬هذا ليس مكانًا مناسبًا لتتوقف فيه ‪ ،‬إن استطعت السير فهناك شاحنات علي الطريق الذي‬

‫يتفرع ليتجه إلى تورتوسا ‪.‬‬

‫قال ‪ :‬سأنتظر وهلة ثم أذهب ‪ ،‬أين تذذهب الشاحنات ؟ قلت له ‪ :‬نحو برشلونة ‪ ،‬قال ‪ :‬ال أعرف أحدًا في ذلك‬

‫االتجاه لكن أشكرك جزياًل ‪ ،‬أشكرك جزيل الشكر مرة أخرى ‪.‬‬

‫الضفة البعيدة والمدفعية ‪ :‬نظر إل ّي نظرة خاوية ‪ ،‬وتبعه جدًا ثم قال ليشاركه شخص ما قلقه ‪.‬‬

‫القطة ستكون على ما يرام ‪ ،‬أنا متأكد ‪ ،‬ال داعي للقلق على القطة ‪ ،‬لكن الحيوانات األخرى ‪ ،‬ما الذي تراه بالنسبة‬

‫للحيوانات األخرى ؟ لماذا من المحتمل أن تخرج سالمة ‪ ،‬أترى هذا ؟ ‪ ،‬قلت وأنا أراقب الضفة البعيدة حيث لم‬

‫تعد فيها أية عربات ‪ ،‬لم ال ؟ لكن ‪ ،‬ما الذي ستفعله تحت قصف المدفعية في حين طلبوا مني ترك المنطقة بسبب‬

‫المدفعية؟‪{.‬‬

‫سألت ‪ ،‬اترك باب قفص الحمام مفتو ًحا ؟ سيطير إذن ‪ ،‬نعم ‪ ،‬سيطير بالتأكيد ‪ ،‬لكن الحيوانات األخرى ‪ ،‬يحسن‬

‫أال أفكر بالحيوانات األخرى ‪ ،‬حثثته قائال ‪ :‬إن استرحت أنت فإنني سأذهب ‪ ،‬انهض وحاول السير اآلن ‪ ،‬قال ‪:‬‬

‫شكرًا لك ‪.‬‬
‫النهاية ‪ :‬نهض واقفًا ‪ ،‬فتمايل من جانب إلى آخر ثم جلس على التراب في الخلف ‪ ،‬قال ببالدة ‪ ،‬لكنه لم يعد يوجه‬

‫كالمه إل ّي ‪ :‬كنت أعتني بالحيوانات فقط ‪ ،‬كنت أعتني بالحيوانات فقط ‪ ،‬لم يكن هناك ما يمكن فعله له ‪ ،‬كان اليوم‬

‫يوم أحد الفصح والفاشيون يتقدمون نحو إيبرو ‪ ،‬كان يو ًما رماديًا مكفهرًا ملبدًا بسقف من الغيوم ‪ ،‬فلم تحلق‬

‫حظ حسن ‪.‬‬
