บทนี้จะนําเสนอขอผิดพลาดที่พบบอยบางประการในการเขียนภาษาอังกฤษของผูที่ไมใชเจาของ
ภาษาอังกฤษ ทั้งนี้เพื่อใหผูศึกษาเกิดความตระหนักและระมัดระวังมิใหเกิดขอผิดพลาดในเรื่องดังกลาว ซึ่ง
จะชวยใหการเขียนมีประสิทธิภาพและสื่อความหมายไดดีขึ้น ขอผิดพลาดที่พบบอยที่จะกลาวถึงโดยสังเขป
ในบทนี้คือขอผิดพลาดดานโครงสรางประโยค ไดแก comma splices, run-on sentences และ fragments
ขอผิดพลาดเกี่ยวกับสวนขยาย ไดแก misplaced modifiers และ dangling modifiers ขอผิดพลาดเกี่ยวกับ
parallel construction ขอผิดพลาดเกี่ยวกับ subject-verb agreement และขอผิดพลาดเกี่ยวกับ verb tenses

ขอผิดพลาดเกี่ยวกับ comma splices

Comma splices หมายถึงการใช comma (,) เชื่อมประโยคหลัก (independent/main clauses) สอง

ประโยค จึงทําใหผิดไวยากรณ เชน
Wrong  Your suggestions for next year’s technical forum are much appreciated, I have
already sent them to the steering committee.
ขอผิดพลาดดาน comma splices นี้สามารถแกไขใหถูกตองไดดวยวิธีตอไปนี้คือ
1. แยกประโยคหลักออกเปนสองประโยคตางหาก
Your suggestions for next year’s technical forum are much appreciated. I have
already sent them to the steering committee.
2. ใชเครื่องหมาย semi-colon (;) แทน comma
Your suggestions for next year’s technical forum are much appreciated; I have
already sent them to the steering committee.
3. เติม coordinating conjunction หลัง comma
Your suggestions for next year’s technical forum are much appreciated, and I have
already sent them to the steering committee.
