Staad.Pro
STAAD.Pro is an analysis and design software package for structural engineering,
used in performing the analysis and design of a wide variety of types of structures.
This implies that it addresses all aspects of structural engineering including
model development, verification, analysis, design and review of results. It
includes advanced dynamic analysis and push over analysis for wind load and
earthquake load.
Key Benefit:
We will provide knowledge in the field of civil engineering with the help of soft
computing application by giving them an overview of all the tools of AutoCAD
and Staad.Pro and introducing them to the needs of the current applications.
Eligibility Criteria:
This workshop is best suited for those who are interested in knowing about the
fundamentals of structural analysis and design. It's a basic level workshop so
there are no prerequisites. Anyone interested, can join this workshop. This
workshop is best suited for all civil engineering students.
Certification Policy:
A “Certificate of Participation” will be issued to all Participants of this workshop. At
the end of this workshop, a small competition will be organized among the
participating students and winners will be awarded with a “Certificate of
Excellence”.
“Certificate of Coordination” will be issued for all of the coordinators.
Duration
The duration of this workshop will be two consecutive days, with eight hour
session each day in a total of sixteen hours properly divided into theory and hands
on sessions.

Unit-1 Introduction to AutoCAD (1 hr 30 mins)

Getting Started with AutoCAD, Basic Drawing & Editing Commands, Drawing Precision in AutoCAD, Making
Changes in Your Drawing, Organizing Your Drawing with Layers, Text, Hatching & Dimensions, Advanced
Editing Commands, Architectural Planning.

Unit-2 Introduction to Staad.Pro (1 hr 30 mins)

Introduction(What is structural engineering ? What is structure? What is Analysis? What is Design?), Getting
Started with Staad.Pro, Elements of the STAAD.Pro Screen, Introduction to Staad Editor.

Unit-3 Structure Geometry and Coordinate system (1 hr 30 mins)

Model Generation in Staad.Pro, Method of creating the model, Structure Wizard, Model Editing Tools(Like Add
beam, Insert Node Cut Section, Add Plate View Mode etc.), Coordinate Systems.

Unit-4 Specification and Property (1 hr 30 mins)

Member Property, Support Specification, Material Specification, Material Property, Group Specification.

Unit-5 Generate Loads and Load Combinations (1 hr 30 mins)

Type of Loads, Calculation of Live Load, Dead Load, Wind Load, Seismic Load according to relevant IS Code,
How to Implement them in Structure, Generate Load Combination.

Unit-6 Analysis (1 hr 30 mins)

Analysis the Structure, Viewing the Output(Shear Forces, Support Reactions, Bending Moment etc.)

Unit-7 Design (1 hr 30 mins)

General Guideline for Design, R.C.C. Design as per IS 456. (Beams, Column and Slabs), Steel Design as per IS 800,
Staircase Design, Slab Design.

Unit-8 Trusses & Water Tank (1 hr 30 mins)

Introduction to trusses in staad.pro, Truss Bridge, Intze type water tank.

Unit-9 Report Setup (1 hr 30 mins)

Viewing the output files of Design, Print Specifications, Preparing Structural Drawings.

Unit-10 Project (1 hr 30 mins)

Basic Project on Structural Design of Multi Storey Building against Seismic Load and Wind Load.
