1.0 Introduction:-
In this Project we have given the area of the proposed development that is shopping mall.
As shopping mall is commercial site so with the development of this shopping mall it will attract
traffic from different zones. The traffic flow pattern will change and the traffic count will also
increase because of this new development. The traffic moving on different links adjacent to
shopping mall will increase.
Objective:
The main objective of our project is as below.
 to determine the newly traffic due to development
 to determine the future traffic with development
 To conduct traffic impact assessment of the expansion on the adjacent street system.
3.0 Methodology:-
The data that we were given is of Weekdays and weekend. So we carry out the whole
calculation for weekdays and weekend separately. In order to proceed we follow the following
steps.
3. 1 Weekday Calculation:
We calculated the traffic condition for weekday’s traffic count data and Saturday traffic
count data separately. Following steps were followed.
3.1.1 Percentages of in and out Trips of existing conditions.
In order to proceed ist of all we determine the in and out percentages of the existing traffic
condition. The following figure show the traffic count in peak hour of weekday and peak hour of
Saturday.

3.1.2 New traffic due to Development:-
We determine the trip production due to development. The total area of proposed
development is 9000 square-meter. We use Abu Dhabi city manual (Land use class 113-A) for
determining trip production
We use the following table and calculate the total in and total out trips.
Total area=9000 square meter
=9000/100 =90 square meter
Total traffic= 90*2.02=185
In Traffic= 89 trips
Out traffic= 96 trips

3.1.3 Future traffic without development:
We determine the future traffic of the existing traffic condition without considering
development. The growth frate for this particular location is 1%. The expected site is proposed to
be completed in 3 years. So we determine the growth factors as below.
G= (1+1%) ^3=1.03
We use this growth factor to determine the future traffic without development. We multiply the
growth factor with the existing traffic counts and get the following results as shown in the figure
below.
Figure 3.4 shows future projected traffic due to Growth rate
3.1.4 Future traffic conditions with development.
By adding figure and figure we will get the future traffic counts with development. Following
figure show the future traffic counts with development.
Figure 3.5 showing future traffic counts due to development and growth rate
3.2 Calculations for Saturday peak hour :-
The same steps in calculation were followed for determining the future traffic counts due to
growth factor and new development.
3.2.1 Percentages of in and out traffic counts of existing conditions.
Following figure shows the percentages of incoming traffic counts and outgoing traffic
counts of an existing traffic condition.
Figure 3.6 shows in and out percentages of traffic on Saturday (peak hour)
3.2.2 Newly traffic counts due to development.
The same way we use abu Dhabi city manual Land class 113-A for determining the trip
generation due to the proposed development.
Total area= 9000 square meter
= 9000/100 90square meter
Total trips= 90*2.61=235
In trips= 235*56%=132 trips
Out trips= 235*44%= 103 Trips.
Following figure shows the newly traffic counts due to development.
Figure 3.7 shows newly traffic due to development
3.2.3 Future traffic due to Growth:
Since the growth rate is 1% so
G= (1+1%) ^ 3= 1.03
Following figure shows the future traffic counts without development.
Figure 3.8 shows future projected traffic due to growth rate
3.2.4 Future traffic due to development and growth.
Future traffic due to development and growth are determined simply by adding the traffic
counts values obtained in figure and figure. The following figure shows the future traffic counts
value due to development and growth rate.
