TOPIC: THE 80S: TRAITS OF AN UNFORGETTABLE DECADE.
AIMS:
 To explain why the eighties considered as one of the most important decades in the 20th century;
to use the vocabulary associated with the topic, along with the past tense, passive voice, and
some adjectives. The third aim is to read, listen and ponder about the leading events and facts that
marked the eighties as an unforgettable decade.

CONTENT:
MAY 12th (DAY 01) : TRAITS OF AN UNFORGETTABLE DECADE
Beginning under the shadow of the Iran

cooperation to combat the disappearing ozone layer. Ronald Reagan,
a two-term president, re-worked American economic policy and
challenged the Soviet Union to help topple the Berlin Wall. Americans celebrated the Miracle on Ice, sang along
with Madonna on their Walkmans, and looked forward to the larger implementations of the World Wide Web and
Starbucks coffeeshops.

MAY 14th (DAY 02) : 1980s Fashion: Styles, Trends & History
By the mid-80s, pop music Target vocabulary
stars like Cyndi Lauper were Bangle
ushering in an entirely new Neon
style — one that many Fashion
people associate with the Celebrity
1980s to this day. Bright Spread
colored accessories like
sunglasses, bangles and hoop earrings were anecessity. Teased hair, loud makeup and neon were an important
part of this style. This style was obviously more popular with the younger crowd.

Society’s love for brand was epitomized by its inexplicable love for wearing Coca-Cola brand clothing in 1987.
MTV had a huge impact on fashion, as teens across the U.S. were tuning in to watch music videos starring wildly
dressed celebrities. Suddenly it became much easier for a fad to spread across the country faster than wildfire.

DYNAMICS OF THE ONLINE / VIRTUAL CLASSES


 For the students’ participation, the method will be an online name picker according to the list.
 The teacher will require the use of the students’ cameras or microphones when they are participating.
 For the reading comprehension checking, the teacher will start the corresponding reading of the text,
continuously, he will choose some students to continue it in a random form.
 For solving exercises, the teacher will describe the dynamic of the activity modeling one of them, later on,
some random students will be chosen to continue or carry out the activity.

DAY 1 – May 12 2020 Power Point slides.
Teacher will start the class explaining about the importance of the Google Drive
80s in a cultural level and ask to the students the following questions: Gmail
 Are you convinced by the argument that the eighties was Kahoot
one of the most important decades in the 20th century?
 What do you reckon about the eighties?

Later on, the teacher will present to the students some of the great

objects or elements that make part of the culture of this decade. The
students will identify these objects in English.

DAY 2 – May 14th 2020


Teacher will review the vocabulary studied in the last class through
an interactive activity, where the students will organize a phrase
using the words of the last class.
