Levels of Technology Integration:

☐ Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have any “Voice
or Choice” during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the teacher.

☒ Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is
student-driven. Students have “Voice and Choice” in the activities, selecting the topic of study and
determining the technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the standard. The teacher becomes
more of a facilitator.
☐ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student
work and promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s
morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL): The video supports learners with different languages, and
students can listen or read the subtitles. Read aloud helps students who need support in reading a book
to have full understands. The Padlet allows students to change colors, and front size. It allows students
to see other work in case they are not fully understanding the activity. Students will have the
directions on the Padlet to refer back to.

Lesson idea implementation: First as a whole group we will discuss the question “has anyone ever
heard of Martin Luther King, Jr.” Next, as a class, we will watch a brain pop on Martin Luther King,
Jr. When the video is over students will turn and talk with their partner about why was Martin Luther
King, Jr so important, and what did he accomplish. We will create a graph organizer on the smart
board, and students will come up to the board and write what they talked about with their partner. The
whole class will have a discussion based on what students write. Students will get into groups of two
(teacher pairs), and get an iPad. The students will choose one of the read aloud books I put on their

iPad and listen to a story about Martin Luther King, Jr. While students are in their groups they will
post on Padlet three fact they learned, and why he is so important in history. I will also I have class
Padlet on the smartboard therefore students can see what their peers are posting so they won’t post
something identical. Students will also have to comment on at least two other post in the classroom.
This activity would take two to three days depending on how long my social studies time block is. As
students are working I will be walking around asking individual students questions about what they
are learning so it will be an ongoing assessment. Giving them verbal feedback as I talk with them, and
look at their work. Also, when the students complete the Padlet work I will go back to see would
understands, and who might be not understanding fully. I gave some groups the needed support got a
word bank, and sentence frames for their Padlet. Students can change Padlets language. Also, Padlet
can change color and size for students who maybe be struggling to see or cannot see certain colors
well. I will conclude this lesson by letting students volunteer to share what they have learned and put
on Padlet.

Reflective Practice: This impacts my students because they will retain information, and have to write
about it to see if they fully understand. This is part of a unit about historical figures in Georgia
history. The lesson could be extended to language arts and students can create a story about what
would like to change in the world right now, and why. The project would be enhanced with a video
app, and students could record themselves talking about what they know or if they write a story they
could record themselves reading the story, and post it in the class.
