Personal statement:

My interest focuses in architectural research and especially in design concept methodologies, critical narra-
tives, representation techniques and design application. I particularly enjoy critical theory as throughout my
years of study and professional experience and I have come to consider architecture as an intuitive manifesta-
tion of society. This means that architecture cannot only be seen just as a multidisciplinary by-product of art
and engineering but also as a far more versatile and distinct discipline of its own. My goal is to get an oppor-
tunity to work for an aspiring employer that will satisfy my love to learn and my need to further challenge and
develop my research interests.

Project Title:
RETHINK ATHENS:
An alternative perspective of the urban life in a season of crisis
Project description:

The project is the outcome of a year-long research on architectural narrative. The brief that forms the project
is a modern re-appropriation of ancient Greek comedies commenting upon the notion of Utopia in order to
instill critique on the desires of the citizens of Athens.
MArchD (RIBA II) year 2/ DS1 (Design studio 1)

Project Title:
Modern Odyssey/ Ulysses’ Curse
Project description:

The project is an architectural critique on the ideology and happenings of contemporary Athens. Using the
numerous unfinished buildings as the focal point for a cultural and architectural investigation of the city the
project responds critically by making use of the notion of absurdity in order to initiate its audience in a conver-
sation about the future of the city and its people.
YEAR OUT/ work as a member of an architectural practice.

Project 1: Worlds of El Lissitzky

This poster is the official competition entry for a digital museum devoted to constructivist artist El-Lissitzky in
Novosibirsk, Siberia. The entry was shortlisted and exhibited at the awards ceremony in Novosibirsk.

[This work was created by me during my collaboration with DMMD architects in Greece. My supervisor allocated
me with the duty of conducting design research and preparing the concept proposal on behalf of the practice.]

Project 2: Museum of Marine Antiquities, port of Pireaus, Greece.

The project is a concept proposal submitted on behalf of STUDIO75 Architects for the museum of marine
antiquities in Pireaus. The project has to take advantage of the old abandoned silo tower at the edge of the port
and convert into a contemporary museum without damaging or removing the existing building. The practice’s
proposal is indeed an extension that wraps around the volume of the existing silo in order to convert it to a
monumental piece of architecture that will dominate its surroundings.

[The geometry that STUDIO75 choose to produce was a task that its designers could not easily accomplish. There-
fore I was added as an extra to the design team and my role in this project was to help produce the drawings and
photorealistic renders.]

Project 3: Collider Sports Center Sofia, Bulgaria.

Collider is a company that fabricates artifial rock climbing modules for sports venues and events. Upon achiv-
ing a rise in its popularity and commercial success conducted an international design competition for a rock
climbing sports center in Sofia in order to further promote its products. The concept proposal is the one of a
reversed iceberg or a sunken artificial landscape that would be made up of the company’s modules and would
also make up for the skin of the building.

[This competition was the first project that the newly formed design practice of ARRM designed. ARRM is a
practice made up from the members of the teams I had previously collaborated with. My supervisors and current
associates, believed in my abilities to think, analyse, design and represent concepts and architecture and proposed
me to undertake the role of visualization expert as an external associate at their practice.]

Project Title:
Plymouth Vertical Farm and Train Station Complex
Project description:

The proposal concerns the major renovation of the city train station complex in Plymouth. The scheme also
includes the dismantled intercity house building that is also found on site. The building and station are the two
key features that one faces when entering or leaving the city. The intercity house is an 11-storey building that
acts as a landmark and houses the station’s services and railway offices. Together they mark the course through
the city centre to the edge of the city and the ocean front. The whole complex will turn into a nexus as it will
remain a portal to the city (when approached by train) while acting as a connection between the urban and
rural parts of Plymouth. The scheme re-introduces the intercity house back to the urban fabric of the city.
