DYNAMIC REVIEWER for Quiz 1

1. The motion of a particle is defined by the equation x = t3 – 3t2 +6, where x is in meters and t in seconds.
Determine:
a. Time and acceleration when v = 0
b. Average velocity for t = 1 sec to t = 3 sec
c. Total distance travelled from t = 0 to t = 4 sec
d. Displacement from t = 0 to t = 4 sec
e. Distance travelled on the 3rd second
f. Position after 4 seconds

2. A truck is moving at a constant velocity of 54km/hr when it passes a car which was initially at rest. Right after
the truck passes the car, the car moves at the same direction as the truck. After 10 seconds, the car moves at a
constant velocity of 81km/hr. (a) How long will it take the car to catch up with the truck? What would be the
distance travelled by the car when it catches up? (b) If the car waits for 2 seconds before it moves, what would
be the new answer?

3. Water drips from a faucet at the rate of 6 drops per second. The faucet is 8 in above the sink. When one drop
strikes the sink, how far is the next drop above the sink?

4. A projectile launched at A with an initial velocity of 40m/s at an angle impacts the vertical wall at B. neglecting
air resistance, determine:
a. Value of that will maximize the height, h
b. Maximum height, h
c. Time of impact at B
