Adaptive or Assistive Technology

● Large print books Here are a few differences students have reported when reading large
print books: * Read for a longer period of time * Are able to focus and stay connected to the text
more * Remember and comprehend more of what they are reading * Enjoy the reading process
(perhaps for the first time) * Read with greater fluency How to Build a Large Print Collection Soon
after, I decided to create a large print collection in my school library. Many of our classroom libraries
have large print collections, including one of our special education teachers and our reading
specialist.

Depending on the book prices varied from $3.99 and up.

EMERGING TECHNOLOGY

LMS Learning Management System

The Small plan costs $380 annually and includes all the features in the Mini plan but accommodates up to
200 students and up to 400 MB of file upload storage. The Medium plan costs $760 per year, includes all
the features in the Mini plan while allowing up to 500 users, and offers up to 1 GB of file upload storage.

How does a learning management system work? ... Blended learning is where teachers and students
meet physically, but the LMS is used to support learning by providing a space where materials can be
stored and organised, assessments can be given, and students and teachers can interact using blogs,
forums, and so on.

The use of Edmodo learning management systems enhances students’ performance in the experiment class,
relative to those of the control class.
INNOVATIVE USES

Chromebooks

Price $250 and up

Chromebooks help make learning real, and Google Apps are easy to manage. They give students
access to the information they need to be successful in school, and in life. Many schools are transitioning
to Chromebooks because they like the price, and security features. ... Collaboration has become
important to students.

They have been particularly successful in the education sector, where demand for low-cost, dependable and portable machines is
incredibly high. For those of us who have been keeping an eye on these great little devices, it came as little surprise that
Chromebooks outsold Apple Macbooks in 2016 for the first time since their launched in 2010.
