Check machinery like windlasses and gangways before arrival in Anchorage. Run windlasses for 5-10 minutes each to check grease and condition of anchors and flags. Before trying out any machinery, Check for any visual damages Check the oil level is normal Check any lashings or safety pins already removed Any displayed maintenance/warning bords 1. Run both windlasses atleast about 5 to 10 mins. (Hoisting and lowering) 1. Check grease condition – In side and out side gears. 2. Check the condition of the Anchor ball and the flag. 3. Keep a Torch, Rain coats and Goggles ready in forward station. 4. Keep a F spanner to open windlass brake. 5. Keep a small sledge hammer to remove bow-stopper pin.
2. Try out both Gangways.
3. Lay out both Pilot ladders on deck and check the condition. 4. Check hatch cleats are open or not. 5. Check all the door locks are placed on deck and accommodation block. 6. Check all safety pins are in proper place of windlass, winches, booby hatches. 7. Check all save-all’s are plugged properly. 8. Check all scuppers are plugged. 9. Check all hatch and ballast tank entrances are sealed with wire ties.
