SLOGAN

MAKING
CONTEST
1. This competition is participated by a single student in every section;
2. Mechanics:
a. The contest is on the spot;
b. The slogan must revolve around the theme: “Magbasa’t Umunlad” but must use
English as the medium;
c. The slogan should be written in drawing material and the number of words must
not be more than ten (10);
d. Contestants are given one hour to finish their slogan;
e. Contestants should bring their own materials (any kind of drawing medium is
allowed) and white cartolina;
f. Slogan should not be written in the cartolina or drawing material prior to the
conduct of the contest;
g. Sketched or patterns are not allowed to be carried by the contestants inside the
contest area;
h. Violations to any of the abovementioned rules will lead to the disqualification of
the contestant;
i. Decision of the judges shall be final and irrevocable.

3. Criteria for judging are as follow:


Relevance to the theme - 30%
Creativity - 30%
Originality - 30%
Overall Impact & Presentation - 10%

ESSAY
WRITING
CONTEST

1. This competition is participated by a single student in every section;


2. Mechanics:
a. The contest is on the spot;
b. The essay must revolve around the theme: “Magbasa’t Umunlad” but must use
English as the medium;
c. The essay shall maintain a minimum of 300 words and maximum of 500 words;
d. Contestants are given one hour to finish their essays;
e. Contestants shall be provided with three sheets of bond paper to write their pieces;
f. Drafts/Outlined texts are not allowed to be carried by the contestants inside the
contest area;
g. Violations to any of the abovementioned rules will lead to the disqualification of the
contestant;
h. Decision of the judges shall be final and irrevocable.

3. Criteria:
Substance of the content - 30%
Relevance to the theme - 25%
Organization and clarity of ideas - 25%
Mechanics/Grammar - 20%

STORY
RETELLING
CONTEST
 Story retelling is the art of using language, vocalization, and/or physical movement and
gesture to reveal the elements and images of a story to a specific, live audience. A central, unique
aspect of storytelling is its reliance on the audience to develop visual imagery and detail to
complete and co-create the story.

 Story retelling competition is a competition in which participants use language, vocalization,


physical movement and gesture to reveal or interpret the elements and images of a story.

1. Storytelling styles are oral narratives and spoken word;


2. Contestants will have 3 to 4 minutes for the presentation of the story;
3. A copy of the story will be provided;
4. The timekeeper will signal time to the participant(s) using flags:
a. Green flag: the participant begins his/her story-telling. (3-4 minutes)
b. Yellow flag: the story-telling has been performed for 3 minutes (minimum time).
c. Red flag: the time is up (4minutes = maximum time).

1 point per second will be deducted from the score if it goes below minimum time or
maximum time.

5. The story must be delivered from memory and any movement is confined to the
performance area.
6. Microphones will be available for performers.
7. The judges’ decision is final.

8. Criteria:

Performance (Confidence, Gesture, Mimicry) - 30%


Fluency (Pace, Voice Quality, Vocal Expression - 30%
Pronunciation (Articulation and Intonation) - 30%
Content (Story is delivered in logical order) - 10%
