FIRST QUARTER
LESSONS STANDARDS
 Learn about Maps 4.6.1 Identify rights and responsibilities of the individual in
relation to his or her social group, including the characteristics
of good citizens.
 How to Read a Map?  Determine the laws and rules of the local community.

 Cardinal and Intermediate Directions  Explore the concept of citizenship

 How to Tell Directions?  Distinguish the characteristics of good citizens in various settings
(school, home, and Kuwait).

SECOND QUARTER
LESSONS STANDARDS
 The Arab Countries 4.3.13 Define regions by their human and physical
characteristics.

 Countries of the Arabian Peninsula

 Explore human features such as bridges, buildings, and roads
which have been built within communities.
 Borders of the Arabian Peninsula
 Identify physical features of a location including: weather, plant life,
water or land.
  Explain ways in which people are affected by features of their
environment.

THIRD QUARTER
LESSONS STANDARDS
 Learn about Earth 4.4.2 Describe how people from different types of institutions
and organizations (e.g. families, schools, local religious
communities, clubs, etc.) interact with each other.
 As Earth Goes Round  Create a community collage

 Weather and Climate  Explore and contrast traditions and behaviors of different cultures

 Land and Water

FOURTH QUARTER
LESSONS STANDARDS
 Changes Through Time 4.4.2 Describe how people from different types of institutions
and organizations (e.g. families, schools, local religious
communities, clubs, etc.) interact with each other.
 How Old Is Planet Earth?  Examine different types of institutions and organizations in Kuwait
and other countries.
