MINUTES OF THE SECOND ENGLISH LANGUAGE PANEL MEETING OF 2015

1.1 WELCOMING SPEECH

1.2 The meeting began by reciting Al-Fatihah
1.3 The Head of Language Department welcomed and thanked all English teachers who
prepared for Form One and Form Two Diagnostic Test although it was not really running
smoothly.

2.0 RECONFIRMATION OF THE FIRST ENGLISH LANGUAGE PANEL MEETING FOR 2015 HELD
ON 30TH DECEMBER 2014
2.1 The minutes of the final English Language Panel meeting was passed by Pn. Nur Elina
and seconded by Cik Syazwani

3.0 MATTERS ARISING

3.1 There was no matters arising

4.0 PROFESSIONAL AGENDA

4.1 LADAP: ORAL PROFICIENCY SKILLS (OPS) BY MADAM NUR ELINA

4.1.1 All OPS lesson plans are available in teacher’s companion book.
4.1.2 Teacher can only use pictures in the workbook for teaching OPS.
4.1.3 For creative teaching, teacher can use flash cards.
4.1.4 There are six steps for teaching OPS which are stimulus, building blocks, language in
action, language in use, having fun and fun in sharing.
5.0 OTHER MATTERS REGARDING PROFESSIONAL ENHANCEMENT

5.1.1 MBMMBI (UPHOLDING MALAY LANGUAGE,STREGHTEN ENGLISH)

5.1.1.1 Pn. Azmidah suggested organizing talent time to attract students to love English. Pn.
Rohaidah agreed with that suggestion. In addition, English panel needed to
collaborate with Malay Language Head Panel to make it as MBMMBI programme.

5.1.2 LESSON PLAN

5.1.2.1 Every lesson plans should have theme and topic
5.1.2.2 A lesson plan can be used by many classes but the reflection part should be
separated.
5.1.2.3 Method column consists of pair work, individual, whole class and group work.
5.1.2.4 Skills are listening, speaking, writing and reading
5.1.2.5 List of values and CCTS has been provided by Head of Panel
5.1.2.6 Record book cannot be wrapped with coloured paper.

5.1.3 TIME TABLE

5.1.3.1 Pn. Rosmawati asked all English teachers whether they have problems with their
timetable. She stated that she dropped a class from her timetable because of her
role as KPKw (Ketua Pentaksir Kawasan).All English teachers were fine with their
timetables
5.1.3.2 Teachers who teach Form One, Two and Four will help Form Three and Five teachers
for teaching Form Three and Form Fives tuition classes.

5.1.4 FORM ONE AND FORM TWO DIAGNOSTIC TEST

5.1.4.1 Head of Department expressed her sadness on the delivered language in school
public media regarding today diagnostic test.
5.1.4.2 Diagnostic test should be held on Thursday but it has been changed due to
administrators request.
5.1.4.3 Weaknesses of the diagnostic test were as below:
5.1.4.3.1 Most of the first period teacher did not enter their classes because they were in
charged with Form One registration.
5.1.4.3.2 Head of Department was not available to observe and help the test because she
has Form Five class.
5.1.4.4 Pn. Rohaidah hoped that Form One and Form Two coordinators play active role to
make sure the test run smoothly in the future.
5.1.4.5 Form One coordinator requested all teachers to finish marking the test paper and
submit the marks in Microsoft excel form to her by Tuesday afternoon.

5.1.5 VOCABULARY REINFORCEMENT

5.1.5.1 Principal wanted English panel to find ways to enhance students’ vocabulary
5.1.5.2 Pn. Rohaidah suggested laminating the printed words and their meaning so that
teachers do not need to do the same thing every year. Pn. Rosmawati agreed with
that suggestion and stated that all of them can be put at English panel board and
language park
5.1.5.3 Pn. Azuwa has been assigned to produce proverb that will be placed at the language
park.
5.1.5.4 Pn. Azmidah suggested to place laminated word and meaning at canteen’s notice
board but Pn. Rosmawati disagreed due to strong wind at the canteen.

6.0 OTHER MATTERS

6.1 Pn. Nur Elina informed that the English Newsletter will be launched next week
6.2 Record book should be submitted by next week

7.0 ADJOURNMENT SPEECH

7.1 The meeting was adjourned at 5.00 p.m
