In English, the present continuous is used to indicate actions happening at the

time of speaking, or right now. 14
Spelling
1.We generally add –ing to the base form of the verb.
drink = drinking eat = eating work = working
2.If a verb ends in a silent e, drop the final e and add –ing.
smile = smiling dance = dancing smoke = smoking
3.If a one-syllable verb ends in a consonant, a vowel, and a
consonant, double the last consonant before adding –ing.
sit = sitting run = running
However, do not double tha last consonant if it is a w, x, y.
sew = sewing play = playing mix = mixing
4.In two-syllable words that end in a consonant, a vowel, and
a consonant, double the last consonant only if the last
syllable is stressed.
admit = admitting open = opening (last syllable is not stressed)
