This chapter summarizes most of the important instructions relating to operation and maintenance of the
SDmatic.
In addition, this section contains further information destined exclusively to personnel entitled to carry out
maintenance and repair operations on this unit.
IMPORTANT NOTE Avoid placing the equipment behind a window pane, mainly if this
window is exposed to sunshine for several hours a day.
For the delivery, a plastic tube protects the probe against damages.
First unscrew it before setting up the unit and keep it for future use
(transfer or shipment of the unit).

■ Electrical connection
The SDmatic should be used with the supply cable. Any other
utilisation will be not insured by the guarantee.
The plug for power supply and parallel and RS232 ports are fitted
on the unit back.
Do not plug the printer on the parallel port when the SDmatic is
supplied.
■ Environment

testing
■ Do not leave the reaction bowl in this place for more than half an
hour: the temperature could become higher than 35°C and the solu-
tion could evaporate.
The preheating should be used only in case of test series.

maintenance
OPERATOR The SDmatic does not require any particular maintenance: the unit
runs an autotest when it is powered up.
■ Cleaning
❏ Wipe the surfaces of the oval hole through which the flour flows
out by blowing carefully (low pressure compressed air) or with a
brush.
Orifice to be cleaned
❏ After each test, the measuring probe, the stirrer and the resistor
of SDmatic should be cleaned with distilled water in order not to
contaminate the next test with residue from the previous test.
■ Verification
If the difference between the results is higher than 3%, check the
measurement chain (see op. 14-1).

Chapter 2. Troubleshooting
The aim of this chapter is, in case a fault occurs, to find the probable origin and to isolate any failed compo-
nent or sub-assembly; the required actions are then detailed.
If this fails, the unit will have to be sent to Chopin for in-workshop
troubleshooting and repair.

Chapter 3. Repair
This chapter details all corrective maintenance operations, authorised by Chopin, that can be carried out on
the SDmatic (Particular mention of these instructions are found in Chapter 2 "Troubleshooting", page 13).
Spare parts and sub-assemblies shall be selected from the illustrated parts lists of Chapter 4 "Spare parts".
