1.Corona Virus and it’s Outbreak
1.1 What is Corona Virus: Corona virus is a type of virus which causes the disease
COVID-19. The virus is first found in December 2019 in China. The coronavirus can be spread person to
person.
1.2 What are the symptoms of Coronavirus: COVID-19 symptoms including cough, fever and problem of
breathing and there is no vaccine available for this virus so it may causes death.
1.3 Outbreak of Coronavirus: According to World Health Organization there are 693,224 cases are
reported,33,106 confirmed dead and 202 countries and areas are affected till date.
2.1 Declaration Of lockdown in India: On march 24 India’s prime minister Mr. Narendra Modi declare
lockdown for entire India. Some emergency services like Hospital, ambulance will not be under this
lockdown.
2.1 Lockdown Facts: In this critical circumstance lockdown is a wise and effective decision. As we know
there is no medicine for this disease for coronavirus. Social distance and preventing gathering can
slowdown the speed of spreading this disease.
But India declare lockdown when they people were not ready for it.
Before declaring lockdown Indian government should have taken some schemes for poor people who are
day laborer and lives under poverty line. Within the declaration a huge number of people became jobless
and lost their income sources.
2.2 Effect of lockdown on Indian economy: Now days India is running a vulnerable economy and
lockdown due to corona virus has added a new dimension to it. Most of the industries and services are
shut down. The people involved into this are now jobless and helpless as well.
Because of the same reason India may face economic crisis. India now has a effect on import-export
market due to coronavirus and it can effect on India’s degenerating GDP.

3.Price hike of food and goods:
3.1 Indian market/Store: Indian market and shops are based on demand and supply theory. The supplier
supply goods as per demand of shop owners or customers.
3.1 Effect of lockdown on markets: Indian government has declared lockdown on 24th march and said
that emergency services will not come under this declaration. Markets and shop do not come under
emergency service it will remain closed during the days of lockdown. But in some area, shops are
allowed to open for a few times. The areas where they are not allowed to pen shops and the areas where
they are allowed to open shops for some time both are in crisis.
The shop owners who are allowed to open their shops for few times are able to sell their goods for limited
amount only. Limited sell means decreasing of income and this income some time is not enough to
maintain their family.
3.2 Reason for raising price by shop owners: As discussed earlier because of lockdown their selling
amount of goods also decreased so they are now intended to earn more from their limited sell.
For this reason they are now inflating prices of goods. On the other hand, for some shop owner this is not
a new source of income, it’s a way to feed their family.
The second reason for inflating prices is that, the chain of supply for goods is destroyed because of this
lockdown situation. As most of the company have shuted their production process, the suppliers are now
not able to supply goods as per demand. Some suppliers are failed to deliver their goods because of lack
of transportation system. Some suppliers has made intentional shortage of goods too.
Whatever the situation is created but the result is, his market or shop owners are not getting goods to sell
as per their demand.
As per basic of economic the less supply causes increase of prices of goods.
3.4 Is it ethical or not: Is it ethical to inflating the prices of goods? The answer actually depends on, from
which angle we are considering it.
If the shop owners are doing it for making more profit, then of course it is an unethical practice. But if the
shop owners are doing it earn the minimum money for their living then it’s an ethical practice as we know
India was not ready for lockdown.

There are three types of people lives in India
1.Upper class or rich people
2.Middle class
3.Lower class
>For upper classes of people, the lockdown does not make any effect on them. Lockdown period is just a
holiday to them. They have enough food stored in their house and they have enough money to survive.
They can easily stay inside home without facing any problem. So forcing them to stay in house is an
ethical practices. They can be forced to stay ay home.
>The second class of people lives in India are the middle class people. They are the people with a stable
job or having stable source of income. They can also survive this situation without facing any problem.
So forcing them will be considered as an ethical practice.
>Finally, the third class of people lives in India are lower class. They are the people who don’t have a
stable income source. They are the day workers, laborer or hawkers. So it’s very difficult for them to earn
their livings.
It will be very risky to allow people to move out but forcing but forcing them without declaring a proper
scheme is an unethical step.

India has restricted all home flight. Central government ordered all the airlines to shut down all the flight.
To prevent people from gathering its’s good step taken by government.
Another most popular transport system Train also suspended their operation too.
Due to coronavirus Indian government decided to cancel all the international flight for next seven days.
Flights for both arrival and departure have been suspended for those country which are affected by
coronavirus very badly. This step has been taken to prevent people from carrying virus as a host.
Coronavirus cannot be prevented by any medicine but to slow down the speed of spreading of this virus
this type of steps are clearly ethical steps.
As India is a bigger country by land area and it has land border check post with Nepal, Bhutan,
Bangladesh and Pakistan. These border check posts are used by travelers and immigration department.
Government decide to keep those closed for a certain period to keep the people safe from corona virus.
Beside these Indian government has stopped giving visa to citizen of several countries.
8.Conclusion:
From the observation of this topic, we can say the lockdown situation in India introduce us
both some positive and negative experiences. If we keep the problems aside then lockdown
is an ethical decision taken by government. Otherwise coronavirus could be a major ublic
health issue.
