Obviously it depends on the locality and the type of building you are making the

plan for. For commercial its more and for residential its comparatively less but
then again the type of building, the area of the plan and the no. of stories and
the other work which is to be included is put under consideration. Also it varies
according to the city. In metropolitan areas, its different and on the towns and
not-so developed cities, it's different.
After that, the experience of the engineer is taken into consideration too. If the
engineer is a fresher, it's not more than 10k to 15k but that depends on the
projects you are getting. If you have been in the business for many years, you
obviously charge more.
After that, the type and the number of plans you are making. Is it just a normal
AutoCAD drawing of the floor plan? Or you are giving the structural plans as well?
There are a number of factors here and I guess if you have just started doing the
business, first you should focus on the residential projects and even though it
doesn't give back much, it helps you gain experience which is important in this
field.

Hope it helps. :)

Plan +design with drawing = 1 % of estimated cost of structure.

Estimating (with certificates for loan approval) =1% of estimated cost of

structure.

Thus total plan, design with drawing and estimation = 2% of estimated cost of
structure.

It is widely charged and accepted rate by engineers, banks and other financiers
providing loans for construction.

So any part of it, say only plan with drawing, a suitable part say 0.5 % may be
charged.
