Procedure
i) Follow the steps (i) to (v) as in 4.1
ii) Note the temperature at which a flash first appears at any
point on the surface of the material.
ili) Continue heating unti the oil ignites and burns for § minutes.
Record this temperature as fire point.
iv) The duplicate test results should. fall within the following
range.

PRECAUTIONS
i) The test flame should neither be larger than stipulated nor be
applied more frequently thién specified as the surface layer may get
‘super heated.
ii) The bluish halo that sometimes surrounds the test flame should not
be confused with the true flash.
