THE JUDICATURE (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2011.
An Act to amend the Judicature Act to prescribe the number of Justices on the Supreme Court and on the Court of Appeal in accordance with articles 130 and 134 of the Constitution. DATE OF ASSENT: 1st May, 2011. Date of Commencement: 10th June, 2011. BE IT ENACTED by Parliament as follows— 1. Replacement of section 3 of the Judicature Act For section 3 of the Judicature Act, there is substituted the following— “3. Supreme Court of Uganda The Supreme Court shall consist of— (a) the Chief Justice; and (b) ten Justices of the Supreme Court.” 2. Replacement of section 9 of the Judicature Act For section 9 of the Judicature Act, there is substituted the following— “9. Court of Appeal of Uganda The Court of Appeal of Uganda shall consist of— (a) the Deputy Chief Justice; and (b) fourteen Justices of Appeal.”
