soft phones.

HiPath 4000 V5 – Cost Effective Choices

HiPath ComScendo

HiPath ComScendo is the licensing brand for a comprehensive set of enterprise class features
of HiPath real-time communications systems. The individual functionalities can depend upon
the communication platform and the respective hardware configuration.

HiPath ComScendo Plus

ComScendo Plus comprises a Voicemail- and Basic-CTI license in addition to ComScendo and is
part of all new HiPath 4000 V5 orders. This also includes replaced systems using Easy
Conversion Trade-in program.

IP Distributed Architecture Components

A HiPath 4000 V5 Real time IP communication system is built by a central HiPath 4000
communication server (cPCI Standard), different access points or HiPath 4000 SoftGates for the
flexible connection of all devices and network types. Access Points can be connected locally
(Host Access Point) to a communication server or distributed by IP (IP Access Point, IPDA).
HiPath 4000 SoftGates are always distributed by IP. This architecture allows building up stand-
alone systems, IP distributed concepts and complex networks uniquely based on identical
structures. The IP distributed architecture (IPDA) with Access Points and SoftGate allows the
connection of branches by a cost effective IP infrastructure and at the same time benefit from
central applications and a central management.

Duplex Option and Redundant Power Supply

Within a duplex system, two processor cards for call control (CC-A and CC-B) and one
processor card for the administration and configuration (ADP) exists. The failure of one central
processor card (CC-A or CC-B) is detected automatically and the switch-over to the redundant
processor card happens without losing existing calls. Therefore the duplex configuration is the
best solution for high traffic requirements and a must for all critical scenarios (emergency call
centers, business critical configurations, etc)

Optionally, each HiPath 4000 Communication Server and Access Point can be equipped with
redundant power supplies.

AP Emergency

An optional survivability unit enhances any AP 3700 IP to a survivable access point (AP
Emergency). In emergencies (if the host communication server or the IP connection to the
communication server fails) the Emergency Unit takes control of its own AP 3700 IP and any
selected other IP Access Point without own Emergency Unit or HiPath 4000 SoftGate Servers.

Possible Configurations:

• Between 1 and 83 AP 3700 IP with AP Emergency (own emergency unit).

• A group of AP 3300 IP, AP 3700 IP and HiPath 4000 SoftGate (without survivability unit) can
connect to an AP 3700 IP with survivability unit

2
Disaster Recovery

This permits installation of a redundant HiPath 4000 communication server. In case of total
failure of the active HiPath 4000 communication server due to disaster (flooding, fire,…), this
redundant takes over the complete functions of the main communication server. The system
administrator will have full control as part of an efficient crisis management. In combination
with AP-Emergency, HiPath 4000 Duplex capability and HiPath Fault Mangement, this Disaster
Recovery functionality guarantees highest daily business continuity.

Mobility

HiPath 4000 V5 supports a large variety of high scalable mobility solutions which are based on
state-of-the-art-technology like VoIP, VoWLAN or DECT/GAP. Thus mobile subscribers can be
integrated via HiPath Wireless LAN and HiPath Cordless Enterprise devices. Mobile GSM
devices can be included in our One-Number Group or integrated with the application HiPath
MobileConnect providing Fixed Mobile Convenience

With Mobile HFA a subscriber can use individual functions, features and user interface which
he is used to from his own extension (home station) on virtually any IP phone within the
network.

HiPath Positioning and HiPath DAKS allow locating and securing HiPath Cordless and HiPath
WLAN users in personal safety-, alarming- and localization scenarios.

The integrated HiPath MMCS Conference Server option offers very easy to use individual voice-
conference rooms for mobile users wherever and whenever they may be required.

Open Interfaces

HiPath 4000 can be connected to public and private networks via wide variety of interfaces
including analog, TDM and IP. Standardized protocols such as Q.SIG, DSS1, native SIP RFC3261
and further country specific PSTN protocols are supported.

The open standard SIP (Session Initiation Protocol RFC3261) especially allows making use of
attractive SIP service provider offers and interconnecting different systems even more
economical. SIP is also the basis for an integration of dual-mode devices supporting GSM and
WLAN.

Partner Applications can easily be integrated using standardized interfaces like CSTA,
SOAP/XML, TAPI, TAPI with HiPath CAP and APIs with HiPath 4000 Manager.

The Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is an application protocol for querying and
modifying directory services which is provided by HiPath User Management. Thus company
directories can easily be integrated with administration and communication tools.

3
With XML (Extensible Markup Language), a general-purpose specification for displaying
information, business applications can be integrated directly with HiPath 4000 subscribers.

Management

HiPath 4000 Assistant

HiPath 4000 Assistant is an integrated management system tool with web based
administration interface for local configuration, necessary service tools and an integrated
SNMP proxy agent (for sending HiPath 4000 errors and alarms as SNMP trap).

Investment Protection

With HiPath 4000 V5 most of the existing endpoints of different infrastructures (analog, TDM
or IP) can be connected. Existing HiPath 4000 systems can easily and cost-effective upgraded
to V5, if the HW model is still supported. Older systems can be migrated to HiPath 4000 V5
using the EasyConversion trade in program.

The OpenPath strategy of SEN allows the customer a smooth migration path to OpenScape
Unified Communications Server

New HiPath 4000 functionalities and customer value

HiPath 4000 SoftGate

The HiPath 4000 SoftGate application provides cost-effective branch offices with reliable
HiPath 4000 survivability options and an easy IT integration in the HiPath 4000 solution and
management suite. This new Software Application offers full HiPath Feature Access for IP
Endpoints and SIP connectivity for trunking and subscriber based upon a standard server with
Linux SLES 10.

With this new application customers can reduce capital cost (CAPEX) plus operational cost
(OPEX) and deploy centralized applications with uniform user experience.

Any HiPath 4000 SoftGate site integrates seamless in the communication system and network
like any IPDA Access Point (AP3700 IP) – in terms of features and administration.
