A marine engine must be coupled to a propeller. There is the option between a 100 mm
diameter solid shaft and a hollow shaft with an outer diameter of 160 mm and an inner
diameter of 120 mm. As a mechanical engineer you are required to make recommendations to
a boat-building company with respect to the propeller shaft. Which shaft will you choose?
