Types of maps
There are different types of maps that show us different aspects of each place. The
best known are: the physical map, the political map and the economic map.
1. Political map: these maps present the territorial and administrative division
of a country, in the case of Colombia, into departments and cities.

2. Physical map: these maps represent all the physical characteristics of a

territory, for example:

 mountains,

 lakes,

 rivers and

 volcanoes.
3. Economic map: these maps show the economic activities and natural
resources of a territory such as tourism (turismo), mining (minería), fishing
(pesca) and ranching (ganadería).

Homework
 Draw the physical, economic and political map of Colombia on your
notebook.
