As his volleyball coach for four years, I worked closely with German and came to know him rather well even then, but my interactions with him over the many years since have enabled me to recognize his strength of character, his outstanding personality, his impeccable work ethic, and his high standards. German has always been a respected leader both on and off the volleyball court, and on through to his, current managerial role in the workforce. I have always been quite impressed with German's poise, presence, and effort since his high school days in the volleyball program through to present day. I have witnessed him strive to overcome many obstacles over the years, from having to live on his own while still a high school student, to working his way through college to earn his degree without any familial support. While the process was slowed due to hardships he encountered along the way, German displayed a commendable resilience and an equally impressive attitude in pushing through to eventually achieve his goal; a work ethic, drive, and sense of determination that few individuals possess. This has developed in him a character quality that will resoundingly resonate as a positive influence in working with today's youth as an educator. These experiences instilled a compassion within him for those he will one day teach and lead Speaking more to the strength of character of German is his desire to forgo his career in finance, despite earning a degree in that field, to pursue a career in education.
