STRUCTRAL ANALYSIS BENDING STRAIN AND STRAIN IN A BEAM CHRIS O’BYRNE

Objective
To measure the tensile properties of high tensile reinforcing bars.

Apparatus
1. Universal Testing Machine (UTM)
2. Steel reinforcing bar specimens
3. Vernier scale
4. Extensometer

Theory
Revise the theory of stress and strain for normal loads.

Procedure
1. The machine is set.
2. Sample 1 was placed and leveled out.
3. The extensometer was put on the steel bar and zeroed out on the computer
4. The bar was tested until it failed to produce a results
5. The process was repeated for the aluminum bar.
