Measuring density of irregular shaped object

Aim:
To find the density of irregular shaped object
Apparatus:
Measuring cylinder, digital balance, thread and
irregular shaped metallic object.
Procedure:
 Place the mass on the digital balance and
      

record the value of its mass.

 Pour some water in the measuring cylinder
      

and record the volume V1.

 Now submerge the mass in the water and
      

record new volume V2.

 Calculate the volume of the mass by using
      

V= V2 – V1
 Calculate the density by using equation ρ =
      

m/v
Precautions:
 Avoid parallax error while recording the
      

volume.
  View the lower meniscus of water.
      

 Check the balance for zero error.

      

 Place the measuring cylinder on horizontal

      

surface.
