d-lab.1 family: Preinstallation General

1 General

1.1 Preparation by the Customer

The preinstallation is under the responsibility of the customer as well as of an authorized
local electrician. They must provide for a smooth installation by carrying out the following
preliminary jobs in the given order:
– Preinstallation jobs carried out with care and completely terminated.
– All connections and facilities checked.
– Checklist fully completed and returned to the AgfaPhoto Service about 2 weeks before
the installation.

1.2 Measures by the AgfaPhoto Technician

– Installation of the machine
– Mixing and filling in the chemistry (in collaboration with the customer / operator).
– Mechanical and electrical functional tests of the machine.
– Production check
– Brief introduction of the handling to the customer or operator. Explanation of the
actions to be taken in case of problems.

1.3 d-lab.1 family – Versions

The d-lab.1 is offered in twelve different versions:
– d-lab.1 machines with Film Processor can process input from digital media and film
material; color negative films can be developed (4 versions).
– d-lab.1s machines can process input from digital media and film material; (5 versions).
– netlab.1 machines can process input from digital media (3 versions).

Note:
The digital input and the CD burning are performed one the d-lab.1 allrounder 2 and
the d-lab.1 plus via the image box using the AgfaPhoto programs workstation or kiosk.
Both functions are also available on the d-lab.1 and the netlab.1, provided the machine
is retrofitted for this (options 5-port drive and Software licenses).

3.5 Chemicals

3.5.1 Legal regulations

The machine is subject to the legal regulations for water:
– Chemicals must not be drained into the public sewage system.
– If waste water polluted by chemicals or chemicals are drained into the public sewage
system, the local waste water regulations must be observed.
– It must be checked whether residual substances can be avoided, reduced or recycled.
– All photographic solutions as well as plastic containers holding harmful residues are
considered to be special waste.
– Collect exhausted processing solutions in suitable containers until their final disposal.
When storing these exhausted solutions, it must be ensured that no waters are
polluted, e.g. by accidental leakage.
Note:
The regulations for handling and correct disposal of chemistry vary from country to
country. Information about the regulations in force can be obtained from the country’s
authorities in charge or the nearest AgfaPhoto subsidiary.

3.5.2 Safety regulations for the handling of chemicals

CAUTION!
The work with the machine involves the handling of slightly poisonous, irritating,
and caustic substances. The user (employer)
– has to elaborate operation instructions for the handling of dangerous
substances
– provides for the instruction of his staff at least once a year
– ensures sufficient aeration: The air in industrial workrooms should be
exchanged at least eight to ten times per hour.

Chemicals and processing solutions must be stored in a safe place.

Regulations regarding environmental protection must be observed.

d-lab.1 family: Preinstallation Place of Operation

3.6 Emissions during Operation

Photochemical solutions may discharge gases into the air. As some gases have a very low
odor threshold, it may happen that bad odors occur although the maximum concentration
at the place of work is by far not reached.
Bad odors may be avoided by sufficient room ventilation / air conditioning.

3.7 Room Climate Regulation

3.7.1 Air conditioning

The system generates heat. For this reason, an air conditioning unit should be installed to
regulate the climate in the room (room temperature and humidity of air) always
depending on the ambient conditions.

3.7.1.1 Heat emission of the machine

Complete machine: 2,752 kcal/h
See also 3.7.2 Room ventilation and 3.8 Operating Conditions

3.7.1.2 Fan capacity exhaust air

Dryer fan:
Film Processor 2.3 m3/min
Paper Processor 5.2 m3/min

3.7.2 Room ventilation

Ventilation should be sufficient so that the respective maximum concentration permitted
for the work environment is not exceeded (MAK values).
Observe national and regional regulations!

AgfaPhoto 2005-05-01 / PN 03008_05 13

Place of Operation d-lab.1 family: Preinstallation

3.8 Operating Conditions

Room temperature +15 °C to +30 °C
Relative humidity 15% to 85%
Noise level < 70 dB(A)
Maximum ambient lighting 10,000 Lux (machine)
20,000 Lux (Paper magazine)

CAUTION!
This machine is a Class A equipment according to EN 55022. This equipment may
cause radio interference in residential areas.
In this case the user may be required to initiate respective measures and pay for
those.

5 Supply Facilities

5.1 Power Supply

5.1.1 Power connection

CAUTION!
Electrical connections to the machine should be done by qualified electricians
according to local codes.

5.1.2 Connection values, connection voltages, connection types

We recommend a 3-phase operation, single-phase operation is possible.
Note:
Make sure that the cable is properly sized and meets the local code.

CAUTION!
Only the values listed in the table above may be applied between phase and
neutral, or if there is no neutral, between phase and phase.

For operation with 50 Hz mains:

single-phase connection is only permitted for industrial networks. If the machine
is connected to a public low-voltage network, the connection must always be a
3-phase connection (as required by IEC 61000-3-3).

Network and Internet Applications d-lab.1 family: Preinstallation

5.1.3 Fuse protection

Fuse protection: values see table below 5.1.2 Connection values, connection voltages,
connection types

The intensity of the current flowing at the moment of switch-on is a multiple of the
normal current due to induction. The magnetizing current (rush effect) of the transformer
rises considerably and may trigger the lab fuse. We recommend using a safety circuit
breaker with a slow trigger characteristic.

5.1.4 Grounding
The machine must be grounded directly.

HOHER BERÜHRSTROM
Vor Anschluss an den Versorgungsstromkreis
Erdverbindung herstellen!

HIGH CONTACT CURRENT

Make sure to establish the ground connection
before you connect the supply circuit.

6 Network and Internet Applications

If the machines in the lab are to be connected by a network, the customer should call for
a network specialist. The network administrator should be present when AgfaPhoto
network solutions are installed.
It is recommended to protect the lab data from unauthorized access by suitable Software:
1. Firewall: regulates the input/output of data via defined Ports and/or IP addresses.
2. Anti-virus program: checks incoming data for viruses.
