1. SURVEY:
All survey including setting of building alignment, Foundation locations etc. shall be fixed on the
ground by triangular survey method using TOTAL STATION, make SOKKIA, JAPAN.

2. BORED CAST IN SITU RCC PILING WORK:

Bored cast-in-situ R.C.C. piles shall be of diameter 800 mm, length as per drawing with
grade C-25 concrete & re-bar as in drawing and reinforcement bending schedule. Following
being the methodology that will be adopted for Execution of Bored Cast-in-Situ R. C. C. piles.
Major itinerary of Pile Installation to be adopted are as follows:

a) Excavating Pile Hole.

b) Fabrication and installation of Re-bar cage.
c) Pouring of Tremie Concrete to form pile shaft.
XCMG 180D II BUCKETED ROTARY DRILLING RIG shall be used for
excavation of pile hole and installation of permanent casing. One Permanent steel casing shall be
installed as per drawing prior to start excavation of pile hole. The level of drilling slurry fluid
shall always be maintained up to top of casing till the start of concrete poring. Green concrete

concrete pouring operation shall be continuous. The pile hole shall be kept full with
slurry mud during the construction of piles.
Re-bar case pre-fabricated shall have circular concrete spacers. 150 mm in diameter to
provide 75 mm clear cover to stirrups and 81 mm clear cover to primary bars and be lowered into
the cleaned excavated pile hole in one go with the help of crane.

Alternate points in the bars and main bars shall be spot welded. Two –rebar case shall be
welded in addition to full lap length, welding of two re-bar case shall be made during lowering
into the pile hole.

Concrete Mixture Machine 9 cft / batch shall be used for concrete preparation and
pouring

The quantity of water to be added to the mix will conform design mix to give slump of
100 mm. Suitable water reducing admixture shall be used to achieve desired slump.

The toe of tremie shall be placed at 150 mm above the bottom of pile hole. Before
concrete being poured in fresh slurry shall be circulated to clean the pile hole of the debris, that
could be deposited during lowering of re-bar cage and tremie. This secondary pile hole cleaning
operation shall be continued for about 10 minutes or until clean slurry over flows.

The first continuous pour of concrete shall be at least 1 cu.m. which is adequate to form
around 2.0 m of pile shaft. The tremie shall not be moved until at least 1.5m of the pile hole be
filled with concrete. As 1.5m of the pile be poured tremie shall be lifted so the toe is always 1.5m
into the green concrete. The operation of concrete pouring shall be continued until fresh concrete
overflows the pile hole

The pile holes shall not be exposed to free water/slurry for long time which degrades the
peripheral soil of bore hole, reducing the friction values drastically. To ensure acceptable pile
quality & capacity, we shall work round the clock, while drilling, cleaning of pile hole, lowering
of re-bar cage, tremie concrete pouring operation shall be continues without break or
interruption. In addition, pile hole shall be kept full with slurry fluid during construction of pile.

No pile hole shall be drilled within 6m of freshly constructed bored cast-in-situ piles,
within 24 hours of concrete pouring in the adjacent piles.

Slurry recovered from the bore holes during process of drilling and pouring of tremie
concrete shall be collected for recycle through desander for re-use. No. slurry, shall be allowed to
over flow and create hazards.

CASTING IN TWO PHASE:

Top of pile head is 2.125m above existing ground level (R.L -3.350m). Due to restricted
movement of piling rig, pile shall be casted in two phases. First phase, pile shall be casted up-to
R.L (-)2.35m. All the piles (in Land) shall be extended up to cut-off level as of cased R.C.C
column, once all the piles on land be completed.
QUALITY CONTROL DURING WORK OPERATION:
 Setting out of pile shall be made in accordance with drawing.
 The pile location shall be checked for its correct positioning before installation of the pile
Rig and setting out of the temporary/permanent steel lining.
 Before starting the casting operation for each pile the correct quantity of water and
admixture to be added to the mix which was determined by trail mix, giving a slump of
minimum 100mm.
 Volume of concrete required to construct each pile shall be recorded. Slump shall be
measured for each batch of concrete and five concrete cylinders shall be prepared for each pile
conforming ASTM/BNBC specification.

4.0 CONTINUOUS RECORDING OF STRATIFICATION:

During drilling of pile holes, samples of soil recovered from the overflow-slurry shall be
collected at every two meter intervals to the full depth of borehole. The samples shall be
classified and entered into prescribed bore log.

Following records shall be kept as indicated below and shall submit two signed copies of these
records to the Engineer within 24 hours.

The data are as follows:

i. Contract. xii. Length of temporary casing.

ii. Pile reference number (location). xiii. Length of permanent casing
iii. Pile type. xiv. Soils samples taken and in situ test

All events of pile construction will be systematically recorded in record form.

3. C
ONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE OF PILE CAP/ FOUNDATION/ COLUMN/ BEAM/
SLAB:
A. MANUFACTURE OF CONCRETE:
All concrete shall be prepared by mixture machine adopting strict quality control measure
as per relevant ASTM standard. Suitable admixture free from chlorine for workability as well
as water reduction, form releasing oil has to be used in all shuttering for concrete work. Crane
and bucket shall be used for pouring of concrete.

C. FORM WORK:
 All form will be made of 1.8mm thick steel plate to produce substantial & rigid
construction true to shape and dimensions as shown on the drawing.
 Form oil will be applied on the form after properly cleaning of the dust and concrete
remnant from previous use to avoid dirty form, oil impregnation defects on the concrete and
adhesion to the concrete.
 Gap between the forms will be closed by sealing gasket or adhesive tape to prevent the
leakage of the paste.
 Before casting concrete all contaminated materials in the form will be completely cleaned
by air compressor and water.
 Shuttering will be checked for its vertical alignment, cleanness, application of form oil
etc. Displaced shutter will be adjusted to maintain verticality before casting of concrete. Re-
bar will be checked for pieces, diameter, cover, rust, scale, mud, dust contamination etc. Rust
and scale will be removed by wire brush and other contamination will be removed by
washing out. Re-bar will be bound tightly with soft iron or annealed mild steel binding wire
of 1.6mm minimum diameter or with approved wire clips, the free wire ends of the binding
wire being bent inwards. Spacer blocks will be used for maintaining specified clear cover to
re-bars. Formal request will be put for making arrangement of the Engineer’s inspection.
Then a casting program will be checked out and informed to the Engineers.
 Vertical formworks i.e, walls, piers and abutment columns will be removed after 48
hours, soffits formwork for slab will be removed after 14 days and soffits formwork for beam
will be removed after 21 days after casting of concrete.

D. CASTING OF CONCRETE:
 Hopper will be moved forward and backward along the wall or slab to maintain equal
pouring height (not more than 1.5m) in each sequence (Provisional).
 To prevent the aggregate segregation, distance between pouring bucket and concrete
placing point will be minimized and the concrete will be poured vertical.
 Concrete vibrator will be used for compaction of the concrete. The effective diameter of
the vibrator will be 37.5mm, which will be inserted at about 30cm spacing and depth of
insertion in previous poured concrete will not be more than 75mm.
 The material engineer will test the slump to see the workability and to control the quality
as per QA plan. Concrete cylinder will be casted at the site to justify the achievement of
characteristic strength.
 After casting concrete, surface will be covered by hessian, and sprayed water to keep wet
condition continuously throughout curing period (minimum 14 days after placing).
Construction joint where projecting re-bar will be kept to wet condition shall be cleaned
before casting next lift.
 Water will be sufficient spread to the re-bar and shutter in the point of casting to reduce
the temperature.
 Vertical shuttering will be removed after 48 hours and soffit shuttering will be removed
at least 14 days for slab and 21 days for beam after casting concrete as per specification.
 Remedial treatment, if necessary will be undertaken immediately after removal of the
form as per instruction of the Engineer.
 Due care and attention shall be give while removing the shuttering materials and
formwork to avoid any damage to the concrete.

E. REINFORCEMENT WORKS:

All re-bar shall be cut by chisel and hammer or mechanical cutter, bent manually by steel
clamp handle or mechanical bending machine according to bar bending schedule in the drawing.
Specification shall be strictly followed for re-bar fabrication.
Storage of Reinforcement:
All re-bar shall be stacked on bamboo/timer grills at least 100 mm above ground level.
Placing of Reinforcement:
 The re-bar shall be placed as per approved drawings.
 The re-bars shall be binded with 1.6mm diameter G.I. wire as per specification.
 The clear cover for re-bar shall be a provided for by C.C. block conforming to the structural
grade of concrete.
 Concrete vibrators with 38 mm dia nozzle will be used for compaction of concrete. The
vibrator nozzle will be used vertically in the concrete at 30cm intervals and depth of insert
into previously poured concrete will not be more than 75 mm. Insert time at one location will
not be more than 5-10 seconds and then the nozzle will be withdrawn slowly without leaving
a hole in the concrete.
 The site Engineer will test the slump to check the workability of the concrete and take
concrete cubes / cylinder at site to monitor the achievement of required strength.
