The European IP-Code

To help the design engineer identify the degree of protection provided by an enclosure, EN 60.529 (10/91 / IEC 529 (11/89) (International
Electrotechnical Commission) was introduced.
Both harmonised standards classify the extent to which an enclosure will resist the ingress of solid bodies and water under designated tests.
After successful testing the enclosure will be allocated a classification code with the letters IP (International Protection) prefixing that code.

ELDON Computer Aided Engineering – ELCAE

The computerised system ELCAE helps the design process of electri-
cal and electronic engineering automating enclosure and component
selection and implementation and deleting many repetitive and tedious
tasks.
The power and versatility of this system allows the user to create virtual
cabinets in a realistic fashion, as well as documenting these objects
and calculating labour costs and thermal management requirements.
ELCAE can create a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet with the parts list,
cost calculations for the enclosure and it’s accessories, components,
labour, and thermal calculations, whilst allowing you to quickly update
the prices if required.
ELCAE can create basic geometrical figures (line, circle and rectangles),
either manually or using parameters to show the position of holes for
component accessories, which can be output to a drawing. You can
also write short text, insert dimensions and carry out enlargements of
the drawing using the zoom functions.
