Abstract: Industrial visit has its own importance in a career of a
student who is pursuing a professional degree. It is considered as a
part of universities curriculum and objectives of industrial visit is to
provide students an insight regarding internal working of
companies. We know , theoretical knowledge is not enough for
making a good professional career. With an aim to go beyond
academics, industrial visit provides student a practical perspective
on the world of work.We have visited the Dhaka Colo Limited
company and get insight regarding the internal and actual working
environment of the company and how it functions. This visit has
imparted useful information related to the practical aspects of the
educational course which cannot be visualized in lectures.This paper
reports on an attempt to make the industrial tour an integral part of
the course. This is achieved through identifying learning outcomes
and a suitable industrial site.

1 Introduction

Outcome Based Education (OBE) is an educational model that

emphasizes on what students know and are able to do at the end of
the program. Decisions on teaching and learning are made based
on how best to facilitate the desired outcome which in turns
leads to planning process that is different from traditional
educational planning. In OBE, the desired outcome is first identified
before the curriculum is created to support the intended outcomeA
student pursuing a certain degree will be taken to companies or
industries related to their field for a visit and there the students will
be exposed briefly to the procedures, processes, work environment,
management efforts taking place in that industry. This enables us to
get a clear picture about the working culture and methods followed
by the company and helps to replace the myths, rumors and
preconceived notions of the students.

As a IT student practical learning and training is the most valuable

part of our academic life. With industry visits, we are able to better
identify their perspective areas of work in the overall organization
function. Industry tours helps us to enhance interpersonal skills and
communication techniques that are the most important qualification
of our academic life and job life. Moreover this type of visit broaden
the outlook of we with the exposure to different workforce from
different industries.
2 Aims and Objective:

-To focus students on specific aspects of their studies.

-To provide an insight regarding internal working of company.

-To gain practical knowledge.

-To gain working methods of the company.

- Provides an insight into real working environment of the industry.

3 Tour plan

Recently students of Information & Communication Technology(ICT)

department visited a data center Dhaka Colo Limited(DCL) located
at Dhaka. The whole tour is guided by our favorite teacher Dr. Md.
Sadek Ali.

Our industrial visit planning started by contacting the company

Dhaka Colo Limited(DCL) and obtaining the tour diagram as shown
in Fig.(i) and prepared a series of questions related to the learning
outcomes. By contacting the data center DCL,our visit date is fixed
at 7th March 2020. After collection of tour fund we hired a bus
namely SB super deluxe. We started our journey 6 th march 2020 at
9:30 PM from our campus gate. Our tour bus reached in Dhaka
kollanpur bus stand at 7th march 6:00 AM. In order to rest for
sometime we check-in our university rest house at 6:30AM.After 2
hours we go out from rest house to Dhaka Colo Ltd. We reached the
data center at 9:30 AM. Then we visit the whole data center and
show the physical arrangement and curriculum of this data center.
We left the industry at 4:00 PM to university resthouse.After
sometimes we check-out from rest house and left Dhaka at 9:30 PM
for campus.
4 Main Observation:

4.1.Introduction of Dhaka Colo Limited (DCL) company:

Dhaka Colo Limited Data center is managed and operated by a

highly qualified management team and houses excellent
engineering skills, uncompromising quality control team under one
roof. Dhaka Colo Limited is a sister concern of Earth
Telecommunication Pvt. Limited and Race online Limited. Dhaka
Colo Limited Data Center's design is based on a network of
computing and storage resources that enable the delivery of shared
applications and data.

Technical Consulting Services: It provides guidance and
expertise on the application of technology.

Outsourcing Services: Outsourcing services for the data center

can range from hosting, managing and maintaining an entire data
center.

Application Services: It provides software based services to other

companies that access

Business Analyst: We can increase our knowledge about
technology problems to evaluate the overall business that helps to
build our career as a Business Analyst.

System Analyst: By taking a proper training from data center we

can build our carrier as a System Analyst.
Telecommunication Engineer: Design, implement and support
data communication systems.

4.2 Security and safety measures:

In DCL data center biometric security work by scanning an

employee fingerprint into a secure database. Biometric technology
is being touted as the best way for a business to protect it's physical
assets.They also use high frequency sound system to protect the
equipment from rats. In DCL data center three step door is also used
for security.

4.3 Physical Arrangement:

4.3.1. Human Resource Management:

Human Resource Management is primarily concerned with the
management of people within organizations,focusing on policies and
systems. Dhaka Colo Limited Data center is managed and operated
by a highly qualified management team and houses excellent
engineering skills, uncompromising quality control team under one
roof.

4.3.2. Power Management Room:

Power management system is an electronic system that provides
fine-grained information about the flow of power in an electrical
power generation system. The main requirements of the data center
is uninterrupted power supply.

4.3.3. Cooling System:

For collecting and transferring the remaining heat energy to the
external atmosphere, accurate air conditioning and heat removal
equipment is needed. This is done by cooling system.

4.3.4 Rack management for sever

The server room is maintain by several racks. For different client
server has different server rack.All the rack decorated at straight
line with multiple unit. This data center has total 42 unit rack
setting.

6 Conclusion:

We have learnt the proper management criteria of the DCL

company and have an opportunity to research on the company.
Moreover students will gain the subject learning outcome by means
this type of industrial visit surveys. This has resulted in enhanced
visibility for the students among their learning outcomes and their
portfolio.
