Company (mostly small business) implement enterprise system to :
1. gain company-wide access to business knowledge
2. increase employee productivity
3. minimize the duplication of company data
4. reduce the cost of information technology
5. minimize manual input of data
The enterprise system also offer particular benefits such as : the support of teamwork, an
improved response to the marketplace, increased work quality and greater employee
collaboration and efficiency.
Enterprise systems use a number of different applications, protocols and formats. In doing so,
an enterprise system allows companies to integrate business processes (sales, deliveries
and accounts receivable, etc) by sharing information across business functions and employee
hierarchies. These systems can replace multiple independent systems that may or may not
interact with other systems and that process data to support particular business functions or
processes.
Information systems itself are divided into several categories, each of them occupies a niche
in the life cycle of the enterprise, performing the necessary functions :
