Indigenous or traditional music is accompanied by musical instruments like string,
wind, and percussion, which are typically made of bamboo, wood, or metal. Flutes,
pipes, and panpipes are wooden or bamboo-finished products, while gongs or gangsa
are constructed from metal.

Music for Liturgical and Devotional Music.
MUSIC of the LOWLANDS of LUZON. A form of sacred musical composition, is a
choral composition that sets the invariable portions of the Eucharisticliturgy (principally
that of the Catholic Church, the Anglican Communion, and Lutheranism) to music.
The Lowlands of Luzon consist of several ethnolinguistic groups. Throughout the
lesson, one will discover how the people of the Lowlands of Luzon express their
feelings towards each other and the environment, their history, and their religious beliefs
through voice and musical instruments.

Folk songs are songs written by the folk and are sung to accompany daily activities
such as farming, fishing, and putting the baby to sleep .Traditionally passed on
orally. Most Philippine folk songs have Spanish and other Western influences.

Most of the Cordillera Central is the ancestral domain of the 'people of the mountains. ' These
ethno-linguistic groups include: Abra (Itneg), Apayao (Apayao), Benguet (Kankanaey and
Ibaloi), Ifugao (Ifugao), Kalinga (Kalinga) and Mountain Province (Bontoc and Kankanaey).

TYPES OF MUSIC IN HIGHLAND LUZON

This pertains to the Cordillera Music such as Owiwi, Dagdagay, Oppiya, Chag-ay, Oggayan,
Didiyaw, Sangsangit, Sowe-ey, Dakuyon, Dinaweg, Owayat, Chey-asa, Kapya, Angwa, Dawak,
and many others.
