(BBC) at Plot Nos. 55-B, 56, 57 and 59, Hi-Tech, Defence & Aerospace Park (Aerospace
Sector) Devanahalli Village, Jala Hobli, Yelahanka Taluk, Bengaluru (Rural) – 562 110.
Boeing has been a strong partner of India’s aerospace sector for more than 75 years. India has
been using Boeing products since World War II, when it acquired DC-2 and DC-3 airplanes.
Since then, Boeing has been the mainstay of India’s commercial aviation sector, providing the
country’s airlines with the most fuel-efficient airplanes.
Boeing’s relationship with India on the defense front goes back to the 1940s, when the Indian
Air Force enlisted two Boeing aircraft: the T-6 Texan, or Harvard Advanced Trainer, made by
North American Aviation, and the C-47 Sky train military transport, a military variant of the
DC-3, made by McDonnell Douglas.
Today, Boeing continues to play an important role in the mission readiness and modernization
of India’s defense forces. India has 10 C-17 Globemaster strategic airlifters, eight P-8I maritime
surveillance aircraft (with four more on order), 22 Apache and 15 Chinook helicopters on
order. India has also decided to purchase six AH-64 Apaches for the Indian Army.
Headquartered in Delhi, Boeing’s India operations include field service offices in Mumbai,
Hindan, Rajali and New Delhi, and a Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC) in
Bangalore. Boeing India also has a 500 member team based in Chennai which provides technical
content development, software delivery and engineering design services for the aerospace and
defense sector.
Boeing in India has 1,700 employees, and more than 7,000 people who work on dedicated
supply chain jobs with Indian suppliers across manufacturing, engineering and IT sectors. Boeing
continues to increase its footprint as supply chain, sourcing, engineering and hiring activities
continue to grow.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT PLAN:
1. INTRODUCTION:
The Environmental Management Plan (EMP) is aimed at mitigating the possible adverse impact
of a project and ensuring the existing environmental quality. The EMP converse all aspects of
planning, construction and operation of the project relevant to environment. It is essential to
implement the EMP right from the planning stage continuing throughout the construction and
operation stage. Therefore the main purpose of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) is
to identify the project specific activities that would have to be considered for the significant
adverse impacts and the mitigation measures required.
The construction phase impacts are mostly short term, restricted to the plot area and not
envisaged on the larger scale. In the operational phase the environmental impacts are due to
continuous operation of the project, hence, the emphasis in the Environment Management Plan
(EMP) is to minimize such impacts. The following mitigation measures are recommended in
order to synchronize the economic development of the project area with the environmental
protection of the region.

The total quantity of water i.e., received in the form of rainfall over an area is called the rain
water endowment of that area, out of which the amount of water that can be effectively
harvested is called the rain water harvesting potential.
Rain Water harvesting potential = Intensity of Rainfall (m) x Roof Area x Impermeability Factor.
The collection efficiency accounts for the fact that all the rain water falling over an area can not
be effectively harvested due to losses on account of evaporation, spillage or run off etc.,
According to the data available from the Indian Meteorological Department, the
Average annual rainfall around month of September = 194.80 mm
Assuming that about 90 % Rainfall can be effectively harvested.
Number of Rainy Days = 9.3
Therefore the I.R = 194.80/9.3= 20.94 mm/day or 0.02094 m/Day or 0.021 m/day
The Quantity of roof top rainwater harvested from the proposed is calculated as:
The ground coverage area of the proposed project is about 9,035 sq m
For rain water harvesting consider 75 % of this total area is 6,776 sq m
Quantity of Rain Water that can be harvested from the building is as follows.

Topography and Climate16, 17: The site is located at North Bengaluru taluk, relatively at a level
plateau and at an average height of 839 to 962 meters above sea level. Due to its elevation,
Bengaluru enjoys a pleasant and equable climate throughout the year. The new record is around
40 degrees Celsius. Winter temperatures rarely drop below 14 °C (52 °F) and summer temperatures
seldom exceed 36 °C (97 °F). Bengaluru receives about 970 mm of rain annually. The annual
average wind speed as documented from meteorological office is roughly in the order of 12.8
km/h. The proposed project location lies in seismic Zone II18, which represents a
seismically stable region. Bengaluru city has been untouched by major seismic events. Only
mild tremors have been recorded in the city.
Geology15: Bengaluru Rural district forms part of the Deccan Plateau and is covered by peninsular
gneiss, granites, basic dykes and laterites. Nearly two thirds of the district is composed of gneisses
and granite gneisses. The soils of Bengaluru Rural districts are broadly classified into four
categories viz. (i) Loamy soil (ii) Lateritic soil (iii) Lateritic gravelly soil and (iv) Red sandy soil. Red
loamy soils generally occur on hilly to undulating land slope on granite and granite gneisses, found
in Devanahalli taluk wherein the proposed project site fall in. Lateritic soil occurs in undulating
terrain forming plain to gently sloping topography of peninsular gneiss region. Lateritic gravelly
soils occur in upland regions of lateritic soils. This soil occurs in Devanahalli taluk. Red sandy soil
occurs in undulating land slopes. These soils are derived from acidic rocks granites and granitic
gneiss.

value is recorded as the number of hammer blows required to achieve a penetration of 300 mm
after the initial penetration of 150 mm as a seating drive (to allow for any disturbed materials at
the bottom of borehole). After completion of test, the sampler tube is removed & disassembled
to provide a disturbed but representative sample.
In all the boreholes the SPT was conducted up to the borehole termination depth of 20m.The
typical arrangements of SPT test is shown in Fig.2.

The Summary of Test Results (SOTR) of all the boreholes are presented in Plate 4 of Appendix-A.
6.1.1 Natural Moisture Content and Unit Weight (IS 2720 Part-2)
The test specimen is dried for at least 24 hours in an oven at a temperature of 110 + 5°C to a
constant mass. The loss of mass due to drying is attributed to the presence of water. The water
content is calculated using the mass of water and the mass of the dry specimen.
Soil unit weights are determined for undisturbed samples (UDS) by direct measurement of sample
weight and volume. The samples are extruded from the UDS tube directly to the mould. After the
specimen is formed, trim (if necessary) the ends perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, remove the
mould, and determine the mass and dimensions of the test specimens. The height and inner
dimensions of the mould may be taken to represent specimen dimensions. Mass divided by the
volume of the specimen gives the unit weight.

suspension in distilled water, removing the entrapped air and measuring the volume of water
displaced by the soil. Specific gravity is then determined as the ratio of the mass per weight in air
of a given volume of dry soil solids to the mass per weight of equal volume of distilled water.

shearing force, relative lateral displacement, and normal displacement. Test Plots are presented in
Appendix-B.
100 grams of soil sample were added in a 500ml conical flask and 300ml of distilled water is then
added and shaken with a mechanical stirrer. The mixture is then allowed to settle overnight and later
filtered. Concentrated nitric acid measuring 0.5 ml is then added to the filtered sample. Titration is
then carried out against silver nitrate solution. The volume of silver nitrate in the burette at which
precipitation occurs is recorded.
5g of soil sample is taken from the thoroughly mixed portion of the material passing through 425μ.
10ml of the normal potassium dichromate solution is made to run from a burette.20ml of
concentrated sulphuric acid is then added carefully and the mixture is swirled and allowed to stand on
a heat insulating surface for 30min.200ml of distilled water is then added to the mixture followed by
10ml of phosphoric acid and 1ml of indicator solution, and the mixture is shaken thoroughly, 1ml of
indicator solution is added. Ferrous Sulphate solution is then added from the second burette in 0.5ml
increments, the contents of the flask being swirled, until the colour of the solution changes from blue
to green. A further 0.5ml of potassium dichromate is added changing the colour back to blue. Ferrous
Sulphate solution is then added from the burette in 0.5ml increments, the contents of the flask being
swirled, until the colour of the solution changes from blue to green after addition of a single drop.

10g of soil is weighed for the test and 50ml of distilled water is added to it. The sample is then stirred
well and were allowed to decant. The sample is then filtered and washed on the filter paper with a
small quantity of water. 10ml of the water extract is pipetted out in a conical flask and made slightly
acidic by adding concentrated hydrochloric acid and kept for boiling. During boiling, barium chloride
solution was added from the burette till the precipitation is completed. The solution is then neutralized
with ammonium hydroxide and the excess of barium chloride against potassium chromate solution is
titrated. (N/4).The end is confirmed by using silver nitrate solution as an external indicator.
