Aviation industry during the coronavirus pandemic
I brainstormed what should be a feasible research question for this topic. And
wrote it in a sequence from my first research question to the last on highlighted
in red.
Research Question
To what extend has the covid-19 outbreak affected the demand and supply of
airline tickets?
To what extend has the covid-19 outbreak affected the cost of airline tickets?
To what extend has the covid-19 pandemic affected the aviation industry?
To what extend has the covid-19 pandemic affected the aviation industry at

Introduction
To what extend has the covid-19 pandemic affected the aviation industry at
present and post-pandemic?
I choose this research question because I wanted to research about the aviation
industry as that is one of the most negatively impacted industry due to covid-19
outbreak. I will research about the current effects of the coronavirus towards
aviation as well as the post-pandemic situation as many commercial airlines will
go bankrupt due to low sales and high fixed costs.
Many small-scale airlines have already declared bankruptcy such as Flybe (UK
regional airline they operated about 40% of all domestic flights in the UK) on
March 5th. Trans states airlines (based in US and operated under the United
express brand.) would also close and cease all operations on April 1 st. and
Compass Airlines (based in US which operates flights under the American
airlines brand) also shut down in April leaving the domestic capacity of
American airlines to 80%. 1And many analysts believe that many more will
declare bankruptcy during the pandemic.
There are less airlines flying right now during the pandemic as we can see in
this image of the flights taking place of the trans-Atlantic route. Before the
Trump’s Airline Ban and after the Europe ban.
