AZAM JAMIL

Azam Jamil, is a certified CPD Life Coach and has more than 44 years of
experience in Hospitality, Tourism, Management, Marketing, Operations,
Peoples Management and Training & Development. His schooling journey
started from Aitchison College Lahore, Burn Hall Abbottabad, University of
Karachi and finally to Cornell University in Ithaca New York.

He has spent an illustrious career spanning over 3 decades in the hospitality


industry in various positions. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the
Hashoo Education Division. Prior to this, he held positions of Dean, Hashoo
School of Hospitality Management, Vice President of Learning &
Development for the Hashoo Group, Corporate Director of Training &
Development at Serena Hotels and Corporate Head of Sales & Marketing
South & Central Asia. On moving to the United States in 1983, he became the
first Asian to be elected to the Board of Best Western Colorado representing over
80 hotels and motels in the state.

Prior to joining Hashwani Hotels and Serena, he held the following positions:

 Director Marketing of Berger Paints –Responsible for all revenue areas of


the Company that included industrial offerings. In addition, he was also
responsible for budgeting, planning and expansion projects.

 Executive Director of Colony Sarhad Textile Mills and Suhail Jute Mills
Ltd. – Responsible for trading, exports of finished goods and imports of a
wide range of raw materials.
 Director Sales / Assistant General Manager of Inter.Continental Hotels-
Responsible for overall management of the operations, planning &
budgeting and human resources management.

During his career Azam has formulated and driven large teams. This unique skill
of multi-disciplinary team management, has transformed him in becoming one
of the leading speakers on Leadership, Teamwork and Motivation for over two
and a half decades at international and national forums. Some of the institutions
Azam has taught and trained at include Nestle, Habib Bank Limited, Aga Khan
University Hospital, Pakistan Cables, Mobil, Aga Khan National Council,
Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital, Pakistan Air Force, Greenwich University,
Colorado Mountain College, Denver University, British American Tobacco, and
the Senate and National Assembly of Pakistan.

Being part of the Aga Khan Development Network for 19 years Azam has
contributed in the training and teaching of over 45,000 managers, leaders,
students and the less privileged as a volunteer. As a member of the AKDN, he
has spent a major portion of his life in helping the less privileged and leading
rescue efforts in earthquake and flood-hit areas.

Azam has also been a professional sportsman and was Pakistan’s national
champion. He has represented Pakistan in tournaments at home and abroad.
He is also a qualified pilot, holds a Commercial Pilots License and has flown for
Air Search & Rescue in Colorado, USA. Music is Azam’s passion; he has been
playing for over 4 decades.
