Cations (Positively-Charged Ions) and Anions (Negatively-Charged Ions) Are Formed
when a metal loses electrons, and a nonmetal gains those electrons. The electrostatic
attraction between the positives and negatives brings the particles together and creates
an ionic compound, such as sodium chloride.
