NARRATIVE REPORT FOR THE CONDUCT OF ICL EVERY MONDAY


FOR GRADE 10 VENUS

FIRST QUARTER
S.Y. 2019-2020

Handling the Grade 10-Venus is quite a challenging task since the class is composed mostly
of male students who have lower comprehension skills compared to other students their age and grade
level. As of the third week of first quarter, the undersigned was able to identify only 4 students from
the class who can practice skillfully the four modalities of communication – writing, speaking,
reading, and listening. The rest of the students can read or can utter the sounds of English but does not
display comprehension skills. They are merely murmuring the sounds of English but cannot really
understand the meaning of the sounds they’re uttering. With this in mind, the undersigned prepared
strategic techniques to make the lesson objectives appropriate for the learners of Grade 10-Venus.

Twenty learners of Grade 10-Venus were identified as ICL learners. The undersigned see to
it that every Friday, 10:49-11:49, is spent for the Independent-Cooperative Learning. The teacher
made use of Audio-Lingual Method and Total Physical Response as language teaching strategies to
engage the learners in the learning process. Peer tutoring will also be used to minimize the filter that
learners may feel when teacher gives reading comprehension tasks. Improvement is quite palpable in
the learners after almost two weeks of ICL sessions. They are now showing palpable improvements in
reading comprehension tasks.

NARRATIVE REPORT FOR THE CONDUCT OF ICL EVERY FRIDAY


FOR GRADE 10 VENUS

SECOND QUARTER
S.Y. 2019-2020

With the continuous Independent Cooperative Learning sessions, every Friday, with Grade
10-Venus, the undersigned noticed that learners are gradually improving their comprehension skills
with reading activities.

Aside from Audio-Lingual Method and Total Physical Response, used in the previous quarter,
as language teaching strategies to engage the learners in the learning process – the undersigned added
the Conferencing Approach to ensure that students are really coping well with the lessons.

Improvement is quite palpable in the learners after almost three months of doing ICL. Out of
15 learners who are officially identified for ICL sessions, it’s now down to 12 since the other 3
showed remarkable interest in coming to school everyday and showing better scores in every
Formative Assessment.

DOCUMENTATION
GRADUAL CHANGE. Grade 10 Venus who are under Frustration in
Reading, religiously attend ICL sessions every Friday, with high hopes that
their Reading skills will be improved and gain holistic learning abilities.

DOCUMENTATION
PEER TUTORING. Average learners and good readers of
Grade 10-Venus are paired with the slow/frustration readers.
The teacher has carefully chosen paragraphs suited to the
comprehension level of the ICL students.
