 FOSSILS FORMATION
• fossils are the remains of living things from millions of
years ago.
• fossils can form when dead animals or plants get
buried quickly by rocks, ice or get covered in mud
and sand.
• the material( sediments) that covers them hardens into
rock.
• the trapped fossil rot away.
• this leaves an imprint of the living thing inside the
rock.
• fossils can also form when animals are preserved in
ice.
• woolly mammoths lifelike remains were found in the
ice of Alaska, but they died out thousand years ago.
• fossils help us to know about plants and animals that
lived a long time ago.
