 HOW DO THE PROPERTIES OF ROCKS DIFFER?

• There Are Different Types Of Rocks Which Have Different Uses.

• They Have Different Properties Because They Are Formed In Different Ways.
• Deep Under The Ground It Is So Hot That The Rocks Are All Molten.
• If Some Of The Rocks Cools Down, It Sets To Make A New Rock. For Example:
Granite And Slate.
• Some Rocks Layers Are Made Of Layers Formed By Tiny Particles Of Rocks Or
Shells.
• They Settled On The Bottom Of The Lakes Or The Sea And Stuck Together To Make
New Rocks.
• For Example: Limestone And Sandstone.
Properties Of Rocks
Marble Is Hard And Smooth And Looks Very Good. It Is Used For Statues.
Sandstone Is Strong And Attractive. It Is Used For Building.
Slate Is Waterproof And Is Easy To Split Onto Flat Sheets. Roofs Tiles Can Be Made
Of Slate
Granite Is Very Hard And Strong. The Stone Chips In Roads Are Granite.
