I.-Request
• Would you hand me the pencil?
• Would you help me?
II.-Offer
• I would help you with Spanish.
• They would go to the movies if you are interested.
III.-Conditional
• If I had a car, I would drive around the world.
We can use ‘will’ or ‘’ll’ to talk about the future and make future predictions. For
the negative, we can say ‘will not’ or ‘won’t’.
I’ll live in a big house when I’m older.
She will have lots of pets.
Children won’t go to school in the future.
We will not drive normal cars.
• Be careful!
• The main verb is without ‘to’.
My friend will be a vet to help animals.
I won’t forget my friends when I grow up.
• We say... We don’t say...
• People will drive flying cars in the future. (NOT People will to drive flying cars
in the future.)
I won’t live at home when I go to university. (NOT I willn’t live at home when I
go to university.)
My father won’t be happy when he sees this broken window! (NOT My father
won’t to be happy when he sees this broken window!)

• I WILL I’LL
• YOU WILL YOU’LL
• WE WILL WE’LL
• YOU WILL YOU’LL
• HE WILL HE’LL
• SHE WILL SHE’LL
• IT WILL IT’LL
DO YOU WANT / WOULD YOU LIKE?
• Would you like…?
• En preguntas interrogativas utilizamos esta expresión para ofrecer o invitar
algo a alguien. Ej:
Would you like a glass of water? Yes, I would, please. (Ofrecimiento)
¿Quieres un vaso de agua? Si, por favor.
• Would you like to go to the cinema tomorrow? (Invitación)
¿Te gustaría ir al cine mañana?
• Nota: Cuando se utiliza “would like to” en afirmativa es para expresar un
deseo, por ejemplo:
I would like to visit my cousins in Australia.
Me gustaría visitar a mis primos en Australia.
• Do you want some more tea? (¿te gustarías mas té?.. literalmente es
"¿quieres más té?")
o
Would you like some more tea? (¿quisieras más té?)
o
Do you feel like a cup of tea? (si la taza sea la primera taza, porque no es
"más" té, es simplemente "té" ... y aparte de éso tiene lo mismo significado
como los dos otros.)
El frase "Do you like tea" quiere decir "¿te gusta té?"
Y el frase "Do you feel a cup of tea" quiere decir "¿Sientas (o quizás tocas) la
taza de té?“
• Do you want some more tea? = Quieres más té?
Would you like some tea? = Quisieras (una taza de) té?
Podemos utilizar estas dos expresiones con un verbo para hacer una sugerencia.
1.-Would you like to go to the cinema? (¿Te gustaría ir al cine?)
Would you like to come with me to the party? (¿Te gustaría venir conmigo a la
fiesta?)
• Would you like to stay at the party a little longer?
• I’m not sure. (¿Te gustaría quedarte en la fiesta un poco más?) (No estoy
seguro).
• Do you want to watch a film this evening?
• No, thanks. (¿Quieres ver una película esta noche?) (No, gracias).
• Would you like to sleep over tonight?
• I’d rather not. (¿Te gustaría quedarte a dormir esta noche?) (Mejor no).
• Would you like to go to Thailand with me?
• I’d love to! (¿Te gustaría ir a Tailandia conmigo?) (¡Me encantaría!)
• Do you want to stay here and study?
• Yes, please. (¿Quieres quedarte aquí y estudiar?) (Sí, por favor).
• Would you like to play football this afternoon? Why not? (¿Te gustaría jugar
al fútbol esta tarde?) (¿Por qué no?)
• Do you want to leave now so we arrive there on time? Good idea! (¿Quieres
salir ahora para que lleguemos a tiempo?) (¡Buena idea!)
