Objectives of the study

General Objective

This research will aims to determine the effectiveness of Windmill Powered Water

Purifier in purifying deep-well water.

Specific Objectives

1. To determine the amount of current produced by the Windmill Powered Water Purifier.

2. To determine the quality of water produced by Windmill Powered Water Purifier before

and after the treatment as tested by water analysis.

3. To determine the level of acceptance of the target community on the Windmill Powered

Water Purifier.
Statement of the problem
The main problem of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the Windmill

Powered Water Purifier in purifying deep-well water. This study will observed for the

following question.

The Sub-problems of this study are:

1. What is the amount of current produced by the Windmill Powered Water Purifier?

2. What is the quality of water produced by the device before and after the treatment as tested

by water analysis?

3. What is the level of acceptance of the target community on the device?

Hypothesis

1. The amount of current produce by the Windmill Powered Water Purifier will be 210-

265V.

2. The quality of water produced by the device before and after the treatment as test by water

analysis is, before the treatment the quality of water will be low, while after the treatment the

quality of water will become high.

3. There is high level of acceptance of the target community on the Windmill Powered Water

Purifier.
Significance of the Study
The study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the Windmill Powered

Water Purifier in purifying deep-well water. This project will help the community, the people

and our natural environment because the materials used are recyclable and cannot cause

environmental problems. And with this, people who used to drink water from deep-wells will

drink safer and cleaner water.

Scope and Limitation

This Science Investigatory Project aims to determine the effectiveness of the

Windmill Powered Water Purifier in purifying deep-well water. Specifically, this deal’s with

the amount of current produced by the Windmill Powered Water Purifier, the quality of water

produced by the device before and after the treatment as tested by water analysis, and also the

level of acceptance of the target community on the Windmill Powered Water Purifier.

The experimentation and data gathering was conducted at the researcher’s house at

Brgy. Busaran Poblasyon Sablayan Occidental Mindoro on November 1, 2018 to December

2, 2018.
Definition of Terms
Anemometer- an instrument for measuring the speed of the wind, or of any current of gas.

Cholera- an infectious and often fatal bacterial disease of the small intestine, typically

contracted from infected water supplies and causing severe vomiting and diarrhea.

Cryptosporidium- a parasitic coccidian protozoan found in the intestinal tract of many

vertebrates, where it sometimes causes disease.

Cykospariasis- is an intestinal parasitic disease caused by drinking contaminated water

Diode- a small object that protect the battery from inverse current

Dearrheal Disease- is usually a symptom of an infection in the intestinal tract, which can be

caused by a variety of bacterial, viral and parasitic organisms.

Dysentery- infections of the intestine that cause diarrhea. Amoebic dysentery is caused by

amoebas found in contaminated food or drink, while bacillary dysentery is caused by bacteria

found in contaminated food or drink.

Gastioenteritis- is an inflammation of the intestinal lining caused by a virus, bacteria, or

parasites. This disease is spread through contaminated food or water.

Giardiasis- is a parasitic diarrheal illness caused by drinking contaminated water.

Guined worm- is a disease caused by a parasite found in unsafe drinking water that enters a

person’s body

Hepatites E- is a virus caused by drinking contaminated water.

Typhoid fever- is a bacterial infection that is most commonly spread through contaminated

water.

Water analysis- a method that use to measure the quality of water.

Water borne disease- are conditions caused by pathogenic micro-organisms that are

transmitted in water.

Water purification- a process used to clean dirty water.

Water purifier- a device use to purify dirty water.

Windmill- a machine that generate electricity from wind energy.

Review of Related Literature

UV water purification is a method that has proven for producing germ-free water

with the use of chemicals. Many municipalities are now relying UVC purification of drinking

water supply systems in place of chlorine. UVC purification of water is becoming

increasingly popular, because it is a very reliable and effective method in terms of

purification.

Solar and wind power water purification and desalination system that was

developed and manufactured and distributed by Swiss-based company TRUNZ WATER

SYSTEMS. It is an environmentally friendly technology that produce a clean drinking water

from polluted water and saltwater using solar and wind energy. It is a device that is a reverse

osmosis system ( for sea or brackish water ) that removes all virus and bacteria and salts

without requirement of dangerous and toxic chemical treatment.

Methodology

A. Preparation of Materials

The Windmill Powered Water purifier was finished by the gathering all the

need materials that were collected by the researcher such as: old ceiling fan whose the source

of power for the heater, spare woods and also battery, wires, switch is needed to generate

power, it can be recycled from appliances that are not use, faucet and an old heater.

B. Assembly of the Device

The Windmill Powered Water Purifier was finish by gathering all the

needed materials and equipments that were collected by the researcher to conduct the project.

After the researcher created a windmill and have been tested if the the electricity it gives

functions well and its amount of current produce. The researcher connected the wind mill to

the diode and to the battery, the diode prevents the current of the battery from powering the

windmill, the battery is the power that’s been giving power to the heater, a faucet is attached

to the heater for an easy water passage, also an switch is attached to the battery so that it can

be on and off easily. And the product is ready to do an experiment.

C. Preparation of Set-Ups

After the construction of the Windmill powered water purifier, the two set-ups

were prepared for the experimentation. The device has two set-ups namely set-up A and set-

up B. Set-up A was the windmill powered water purifier used to purify the deep well water

and set-up B is the manual purifying used to test the effectiveness of it to purify the deep-well

water and set-up B is the manual purifying used to test the effectiveness of it to purify the
water. Three trials are done to each set-ups, each trial is done within 30 minutes. The result of

the two different process were been recorded.

D. Experimentation

After preparing the two set-ups, the set-up A which is the Windmill Powered

Water Purifier and set-up B which is the manual purifying were been tested. The water

produce from the two process was tested on the water analysis and been observe.

E. Data Gathering

The initial findings of the observation using the Windmill Powered Water
Purifier and Manual Purifying were recorded for the further analysis.

F. Data Analysis

The f-test was used to determine the effectiveness of the Windmill Powered
Water Purifier in set-up A and set-up B in terms of the percent of how clean the purified
water based on the water analysis and the time it takes to purify it.

G. Locale of the Study

The materials that were used in my study is raw materials from my house which
was the heater, old ceiling fan and an old battery from a motorbike. The Amnometer and the
volt meter were from the school laboratory and the spare woods, wires, switch and faucet was
from the recyclable materials from my house.
