Discussion Topic 2: Program Theory (Logic and Plausibility)
Program Theory

What are the objectives of Inset?

T2 – It is enhancement for the teachers.

T1- Exposure of the teachers to new topics so that it can be cascaded to the students
what we learned.

How can the objectives be achieved?

T2 – Can it be continue not just once a year because not all student can comprehend
immediately so we need continuous training for the teacher to be equip more.

T1- At least 5x in a year there will be a seminar.

T2- What happened last INSET instead of TLE which is our major I was put into Aralin
panlipunan because there was no TLE

T1 – I was put in Filipino

T2 – There are only few subjects available in training it should have been complete so
as to cover all the subjects.

T1 – The set-up is ok but I have to put extra effort because I am TLE so I was a bit
lost in the seminar.

Do you think the objectives was achieved?

T2- Yes it was achieved because our training is to improve our strategies and
approaches and it was achieved.

Suggestion in changing the program design?

T2 – Why not include all subjects especially major subjects which will include TLE.

Teacher selection?

Are all those teaching ESC subjects required to undergo INSET?

T2 – It depends on the director who will undergo.

T1- We don’t know of the criteria this sat there is a seminar but the new teachers are
being instructed to attend.

By January we are signing our contract so those who did not renew did not attend the
seminar only 4 of us attended but the two also resigned. The first one was able to
enter the ranking so he was hired by DepEd. The other one we don’t know the
reason. She is no longer teaching.

Discussion Topic 3: Service Delivery and Utilization

Did you undergo screening for the INSET?

No we did not undergo in training and there is no criteria for the selection?

Who are the provider of INSET?

Phoenix publication. They are the one who always conducted the INSET. Actually
they are the one who provided for all the INSET.

How was the performance of the training provider?

The speaker is very good and the seminar was ok. Even if we feel we are left behind
the speaker is very good and the training is more on activities. It depends on the
trainer. The activities that we do we will use it in the classroom and it is more of
strategies. It makes us encourage to do better. Phoenix are the one who get the
trainer.

Were consulted for the topics selection for INSET?

No idea for both of us.

Were the topics covered relevant to our needs?

As a TLE major it is not but as a Filipino and aralin panlipunan it is relevant and we
were able to gain big knowledge on strategies.

AB is somewhat a boring subject but what happened in the training we were given
different strategies and approach so it will not be boring. It emphasized more
participation on the part of the students.

As a Filipino participant I learned more on stories in Filipino but what I learned in the
seminar is you should make an activity for the student to participate actively like
acting. It is more on activity.

What needs were address and not address and what topics do you want to be
tackled?

It is only that the TLE subjects were not available. I cannot think of something yet.
The INSET if I am an AB major is complete for me and we are satisfied.

What are the many lessons you learned from the training?

Being a teacher you need to have long patience if it comes to the student. There are
some students are really mischievous. There are students who will just cry etc. So we
need to be patient.

Don’t easily give up if there are instances where it is really hard and pray as well as
give more activities and challenge the student to participate in class discussion and
activities.

Ways in applying the learnings to your teaching?

Before the start of class to awaken the interest of the students I gave activities to
serve as an ice breaker.

I make competition before the start of the discussion.

Were you ask to pay any amount for the training?

No we are not ask to pay and we are given allowance.

How satisfied are you with the training?

I am satisfied but since I am not a Filipino major I am left behind in the interaction. I
feel inadequate

It is phoenix who provide accommodation and it was training after we were given an

There is a honorarium.

Others paid but refunded more on transport allowance.

We are happy because we did not spend any and we have honorarium

Is INSET the one to make teacher stay put??

Inset is a big part on why we stay. But we have other benefits also like a trip to
Boracay as a team building once a year so it is an added benefit.

There are other seminar that they attended but they have to pay.

Do they use INSET to move for DepEd?

Yes, for the ranking it is a big points.

Benefits of Inset?

In private we do not need to pay unlike in public where they have to pay.

Do you feel the need to be train in supporting the specific needs of the student?

Yes because we need to adopt to the student need like they are bully in class since
their parents are not there to guide them and they want attention. Family issues are a
lot here.
We invite the parents to talk to us and we even do home visitation.

Counseling needs for the students also. Some lost consciousness some health
related.

Recommendation in Inset

Includes other subject aside from the core subjects and continuous training at least 3x
a year because it can help us even if it only 1 day training.

At least the transportation allowance be shouldered and the rest is for us. The INSET
can be held here in Allen or nearby.

Discussion Topic 4: Program Organization and Support

What is your experience in dealing with people.

We are given activities where we are being challenge to think out of the box.

Suggestions in improving Program and support.

We hope that we can be consulted so that we would know and there should be a
feedback system. So that our needs be address.

How do you want the selection of topics be done? How would they want I to happen?

We do not know who do the topic selection or why we are chosen. We want the topic
to be interesting and we want also to be involve.

The school should give criteria as to who will be sent and the provider also has to
present the topics or subjects to be selected.

Should there be a feedback system?

They should be the one to decide on the topic. As to who will stay in school will be the
priority to be sent to the training.

Is there an evaluation form?

No but we would like that there is an evaluation form. We can put there what we feel
because we believe that is the purpose.
