Exercise No. 1/Problem Set No. 1

(Title)

 This will be the format to be used for the preparation of the research works or problem sets
required for this course. Please follow this template strictly.
1. Paper
a. Paper Size: Short Bond Paper (8.5” x 11”)
b. Orientation: Portrait
c. Margins: Top & Left – 1”; Bottom & Right – ½” (No need to put page borders)
2. Fonts
a. Fonts: Use Arial, Century Gothic, Calibri, or Times New Roman only
b. Font Size: 10 – 12
c. All major parts shall be the only ones in bold letters.
3. Line spacing: Single or 1.0 but provide a space every after each paragraph
4. Submitted works must be saved as a PDF file and must be handed in within the agreed deadline
for each laboratory tasks.

Topic Learning Outcomes (TLO):

 Include the TLOs in your final output.
By the end of this module, the student must be able to:

1. identify the different usage of water and some water challenges in their community;
2. define what is hydrology and differentiate it from other water-related subjects most especially fluid
mechanics and/or hydraulics; and
3. illustrate and define the different processes in the hydrologic cycle.

Problem Set/Computation

1. Copy the problem first before attempting to solve the given problem sets.
2. Include necessary discussions on how you were able to work on each question. Provide also a
conclusion after completing the problem; do not just solve what is required only. Reflect whether
each problem has achieved at least one of the provided TLOs. This will greatly help in assessing
how much the student has understood the topic through the given problem set/research work.
3. Some given problems can have short solutions only. Thus, you may choose to simply write your
answer on a piece of paper following the format that was stated above and attach it with the
other requirements. Additionally, please make sure to write legibly.
4. Graphs and figures/illustrations are also necessary to analyze each problem. In line with this, you
may use MS Excel or any other similar programs that will essentially support your computations and
analysis. When copying graphs or figures taken from published books or journals, provide the
necessary acknowledgment to prevent any copyright claims or any violations regarding
intellectual property rights.
5. To avoid unnecessary changing of formats due to the difference in the versions of the programs
each student and instructor are using, it is therefore recommended that their final output must be
converted and submitted as a PDF file. However, the original work must also be included to verify
whether the submitted requirement is their own. Excel files necessary to aid the computation of
each requirement must be submitted also.
