STUDYING FROM HOME DURING PANDEMIC

As the world is battling against the Corona Virus pandemic, 191 countries have now shut down the
schools nationwide, impacting nearly 91% of students globally, according to UNESCO. Schools and
universities haven’t faced this level of disruption in generations, but unlike any time in the past, we have the
ability to continue education even when schools are closed with technology and teachers playing a bigger role
in delivering the lessons.

Compared with normal schooling, online learning is less effective and unquestionably boring. At school,
I can approach teachers at any time if I have questions. Discussing the ideas with friends, solving home works
together and sharing knowledge with each other makes learning so much fun. I miss sharing lunch box with my
friends. From reading books in the library to cheering in playground, I miss all of it. Staying at home for such a
long time is very exhausting, but we have to cope with this for the sake of safety.

How I deal with my online schoolings? Our teachers give us home works, which keep us busy most of
the time. They are providing us with all the support during this time and the information is communicated in a
smooth and simple way. Teachers are delivering lessons online by putting all of their efforts and coming up
with the innovative ideas to keep us engaged throughout the day. I make sure to get 8 hours of sleep every night
to refresh my brain which helps me to process all of the information learned. I keep learning with online
homework, through our school online platform. The teachers are really competent and give us the best materials
to work with, which makes learning a lot more easier. During free time, I read books, make handcrafts and play
musical instruments to keep my mood up. I’m becoming more responsible for my own learning discovering
ways to understand a particular topic.

If you look at the things from other way round, there are certainly few advantages being home-schooled.
I can learn things at my own pace and pursue interesting sides of it. I definitely spare great deal of time
travelling to and from school. I can spend more time with my mom and play with my little sisters.

I’m really hoping that things will be back to normal in the near future and I really look forward going to
school regularly. Let’s hope we can make it through this safely and return to how things were used to be. We
may not be able to control every situation but we can control our attitude and the way we deal with it. This is
definitely not going to last forever and surely, this too shall pass.
