ORAL COMMUNICATION IN CONTEXT


CONTENT STANDARD: The learner will be able to recognize that communicative
competence requires understanding of speech context, speech style, speech act and
communicative strategy.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The learner will be able to demonstrate effective use of
communicative strategy in a variety of speech situations.

TOPIC: Public Communication Context
CONCEPTS:
Speech context is classified into different types based on the number of
participants in the process. Public communication happens when individuals and
groups engage in dialogue in the public sphere in order to deliver a message to a specific
audience.
