0 Purpose:
This Procedure is intended to provide guidance and instructions for carrying out start-up &
shutdown of LP Bypass System during plant start-up. Initial warming up of steam pipe line etc.
during cold start-up. Keep the boiler on fire even during large load throw-off minimizes safety
valve operation during sudden load throw-off thereby reducing DM water loss. Control main
steam and reheat steam pressure.
2.0 Scope:
a) This Procedure is applicable to LP Bypass System for LP Turbine 1& 2.
3.0 Responsibility:
a) All the personnel involved in carrying out /supervising the above activities are required to
ensure
implementation of this procedure and may consult any other relevant documents indicated
under
Reference section below.
b) In the event of any changes required in the procedure such changes may be requested with
supervisor present, who would take appropriate action with approval from respective
departmental
heads.
4.0 Procedure
LP Bypass:
The LP Bypass valve can handle a maximum of 60 % of BMCR. This system controls the steam
pressure at IP turbine inlet before and during turbine start-up as well as during turbine trip
and shut-down conditions by the pressure control valves.
LP Bypass System:
The system consists of two parallel paths that direct steam from Hot Reheat steam (HRH) line
to condenser. The steam passes through two branches
